Major Renovation - Multiple Rooms
Yes, I recommend this pro
$20,000
Extremely quality work, not the fastest contractors in the world, however, they provided fantastic quality work. Everything was done as customer requested, gave help to customer to prevent mistakes in workmanship that the customer wanted, fixed things that customer did not like. Made sure that I liked every aspect of their workmanship. Felt like my opinion was valued by them. Did a great job cleaning up after all the work was accomplished. This was an extremely large project that remodeled a two story large home, and the workmanship and end results were fantastic. Feel like I got a great value for my money, and their rates are very reasonable.

Bathroom - Remodel
$1,425
It took more than five weeks to complete work, which tuned out to be unacceptable. It is a very small bathroom (no work was scheduled in the shower, so the dimensions to be worked in the room are only 48" X 54'). Scope of work: The work included adding bead board to the bottom half of the walls and painting; stripping wall paper from the upper half of the walls, texturing, and painting; scraping, texturing, and painting the ceiling; and removing a vinyl floor and replacing it with tile. Work evaluation: The only acceptable work was the tile floor, but even it had to be done a second time to be accepted. The paint has runs in it and does not have crisp, straight lines at intersections with different colors, e.g., at the ceiling/walls intersection, at the trim that covers the top of the bead board, at the door facing, at the top of a 4" backsplash around two sides of the vanity countertop, at the chrome cover for the toilet valve, and at a cover over a security sensor that is mounted on the ceiling. There are gashes in the trim at the top of the bead board and the door facing (created when using a pneumatic nailer) that were not filled prior to painting. There are also some gashes that were filled, but not smoothed/sanded prior to painting. Some work was not completed at all, specifically the door threshold was not reinstalled, an electrical outlet cover was not installed, and none of the bathroom hardware (toilet paper dispenser, towel bar, and towel rings) was reinstalled. Post-job cleanup: Finally, the bathroom and the adjacent room (a sewing room) were left in a truly filthy state. While no work was done in the shower, dust from the work filtered into it and wax from the base of the toilet was left on the floor of the shower and shower mat. (When removed to accommodate the scheduled work, the toilet was initially set aside in the shower). None of this was cleaned up. The new tile floor was not cleaned adequately. Repainted doors for a permanently mounted storage cabinet were replaced but not cleaned after remounting (swiping a bare hand across the doors results in a very dusty hand). In addition, there was at least an eighth of an inch (yes, a full eighth) of fine, plaster dust on the shelves inside the cabinet and on top of the door and window facings. The sewing room adjacent to the bathroom was covered throughout with dust from the work that was done in the bathroom. Even worse, dust and debris that was tracked from the bathroom during the work period was ground into the wood floor of the sewing room and was not cleaned. Conclusion: The original contract with this contractor was for two phases, e.g., a second bathroom was originally planned to be upgraded with much more extensive upgrading to be done. Based on the phase 1 work (described above) phase 2 was cancelled. No, I would not recommend this contractor.

They do not do what they promise. Nor replace what they break. Communication with home owners were not good. For information see more @ bbb.org/amarillo/compliantreply!

It was very refreshing to find a professional who quoted me a fair price on all the work I wanted completed. This included painting all rooms, ceilings, doors, and trim in the house, minor plumbing, installation of light fixtures, and renovation of a bathroom. Homemakers and Handymen were on time, within budget, and the quality of work was superior!!! After completion of the project they cleaned up and met with me to ensure I was completely satisfied with the job. I would highly encourage and recommend Homemakers and Handymen for any type of work to be done.
