The HomeTask handyman is a skilled, service-oriented professional. Our handymen are retired craftsmen, specialized tradesmen and other home repair experts. Repairs: Home repair projects include fixing a leaky faucet, patching a hole in the wall, replacing a worn lock, re-caulking a bathtub, or replacing a damaged door. Maintenance: Home maintenance jobs can include cleaning gutters, changing air and water filters, and hanging storm windows or Christmas lights. Improvements: Home improvements can be upgrading a light fixture, installing window coverings, hanging mirrors or pictures, or even installing floors and cabinets. These are just some of the advantages of hiring a handyman versus a contractor: 1. No building to pay for. When you hire a contractor you are paying for their building and all the costs associated with it-mortgage/lease, utilities (gas, electric, phone, etc.), maintenance, taxes, etc. By comparison, I have an office in my home. 2. No support staff. When you hire a contractor you are paying for a lot of people who will never see your house-secretaries, accountants, supervisors, owners, etc. 3. Flexible hours. Contractors typically work a straight eight hour day within set hours and anything outside of these parameters will incur extra charges. This is rarely convenient for the customer. You may want me to be at your house before you leave for work in the morning or finish a 10 hour job in a single day. I do this. A contractor will not do this without charging extra. It is my goal to make things easy for you. 4. There is no runaround. You deal with me-the owner/operator. If you have a question or special request, I can deal with it. Also, if I am already doing a job for you and you think of something else you would like done, all you have to do is ask me. I do not need to get permission from a supervisor. Remember, it is in the contractor's interest to come out to multiple times; that way they can charge more. 5. I am able to provide a variety of services in one visit. If you call a plumber to fix a leak in your basement, when he is done, he will not install a garage door opener for you. If you call an electrician to change out some light fixtures, when he finishes, he will not install a storm door for you. The list goes on and on. You get the idea.
