We hired Steve to remove and replace a hardwood floor, knock down half of a wall in our kitchen, do tiling work, install a dishwasher, oven, and cooktop, put in a new vanity and fixtures in the bathroom, redo our deck, build and install an indoor sauna, and paint the entire apartment. Steve was available for consultation and extremely helpful every step of the way. During the construction, his nephew Nasser, was also extremely helpful. Nas addressed any issues and questions immediately and happily altered even the slightest changes we wanted during the process. His calm and thoughtful demeanor was consistent throughout the work which was particularly welcomed as we lived at home during the construction process. Almost all of the work was completed by Eric Maisonet and his partner Eric G. Their workmanship was exceptional, and their attention to detail was impressive. They completed all of the various aspects of the job at the highest level. In addition, they were very careful to clean up at the end of each day which we really appreciated as we were living at home. We highly recommend Houran USA.

I am doing this review to help others out. I hired Steve Houran aka Hitham Abuhouran of Houran USA in Sept 2018 and gave him a check for $82,000 to start work on a $327,000, 150 day (specified in print by Steve in the contract), gut renovation of a 3-story Mansard roof house. I had already gutted the house to the studs and filled 2 dumpsters with plaster and lath. He walked off the job in early May 2019, after months incompetent management, and trying to cut every corner he could, both in the incompetent people he hired and in materials. He was actually putting up sheet rock without getting the framing, plumbing or insulation inspected. He took with him $245,000 of my money, with no HVAC, no hot water heater, no flooring, no doors, no Sheetrock, no trim, no bathroom fixtures bought, much less installed, no kitchen cabinets ordered, no lights, plugs or sockets, my yard filled with garbage, cement, broken glass, wood, old siding, broken bricks. As I prepared to move on, I assessed the permits Houran had taken out for the work. In one permit description Steve specified KITCHEN BATHROOM RENOVATION, renovations to accommodate a one family house New certificate of occupancy is required for conversion from 2 to a 1. The other 2 permits were only for the HVAC install, and interior demolition. Keep in mind the contracted job was an exterior and interior gut renovation of everything. All new plumbing, all new electrical, new HVAC system, new floor layouts, alterations to load-bearing walls, new front porch pillars, fireplace removal, new floors, all new windows, new Hardboard siding, everything. When I scheduled a rough plumbing inspection with the city. The inspector took one look inside and told me he should not continue the inspection because he would have to write up all the work done without a permit, and that the submitted plans by Houran did not show anywhere near the scope of work he saw inside. Professional plumbers I hired told me that 90% of the plumbing was done wrong. 1/2 Ex was used everywhere and most of it had to be replaced with 3/4. The PVC stack had numerous leaks when filled to the 3rd floor. The exterior work was just as bad. Hardboard is expensive and installers need to know what they are doing and follow a specific set of installation guidelines from the manufacturer. I realized after a week that Steven guys had no idea what they were installing and were treating it like vinyl siding. They did not use long enough nails to install the planking, so within days nails were coming out and pieces were sagging! The bottom line is Steve pretends he is a professional and charges the price you would pay for work to be done by licensed, experienced, professional sub-contractors. But after you pay him, he hires guys that could barely frame a wall to install all the plumbing, flooring and siding and cement work. He does not have someone on site coordinating the work and managing the long-term planning, which is crucial on giant renovations like this. So my new sliding doors are too low because no pro was there to tell them new flooring adds 3/4. I am OK with semi-skilled or even unskilled workers working on my house, as long as there is a PRO there making sure its done right. But with Houran, the PRO was never there. An insulation pro would have ensured that staples would have been used. The insulation would have been split to envelope pipes and wires in the walls. A HardieBoard pro would have painted the cut edges, staggered the planking breaks, and done proper penetrations and trim with drip edges. That was only some things done wrong. This is my 3rd renovation, and this is BY FAR my worst experience. We are still fixing the work Steve went trying to pass plumbing, framing and insulation inspection. I estimate Steve took me of over $100,000.

From day one it was clear that, all around construction specialist, Eric Maisonet takes pride in his work, focuses on the details and is quick to find creative solutions, and along with Carlos they make a great team as they renovate my post Sandy nightmare. Everything that you'd expect from being on time to leaving the job site clean every night. I highly recommend them!!!!

Houran demolished outside stairs. Houran built new stairs using concrete blocks and concrete. Houran made concrete sidewalk. Houran also installed handicap rails in the bathroom. Houran USA did excellent jobs. Steve Houran answered any questions j I had. He explained the processes over and over until I understood. If I had to call him Steve always returned my call right away. I appreciate the company professionalism and transparency.

Steve is a fast talking" bait and switch" person that charges lots of money with minimum quality. His approach is to shake you down rather than work with you to solve problems. I am concern with the validity of this firms prior ratings. Don't trust him.

Plumber was great, come over looked at the faucet in question, noted what needed to be done and picked out a great and comparable faucet to what we needed/had. Only issue we had was timing, it took more than 2 days to complete the job because of needing to go get things from the warehouse which was not close. Still great work and clean.

Houran USA worked on my home in Jersey City, NJ. They did an excellent job remodeling my kitchen, bathroom and finishing my basement. We have a 5000 square feet home built in 1855 and the Houran Construction did a great job gut renovating our home. They took over the job from a previous contractor, whom we had to fire for various reasons. Houran construction did a great job picking up where they left off and getting things back on track. The Houran Construction team is professional and is always available to discuss any concern and offer suggestions.

I found Mr. Steve Houran to be a great businessman and contractor, one who is professional as well as an outstanding human being who at my time of crisis, he humbled himself and went the extra mile to bring me back to my home and restore my confidence in "people". Your staff was neat, clean, organized and detail oriented as I am (which I loved!!!). One man, One crew restored this place that I called "Home". I thank you Mr. Houran for being my "ray of sunshine".

Steve and his crew worked on a very tight timeline for a complete renovation of two bathrooms, one kitchen, carpeting four rooms, complete renovation of the hallway stairs, and front porch. He has been very accommodating in helping us pick materials and fixtures as well as work with unexpected problems such open cracked sewerage pipes. I had worked with three other contractors for other projects and Steve's work and pricing is highly recommended. I think once Steve figured that I had more designer quality tastes and we were able to work out a communication system, it all worked out smoothly. The end result is beautiful and good quality work. He has been a great person to deal with and I will be rehiring him and his staff for our downstairs kitchen renovation next year.

They did excellent work, excellent customer service and finished the work before the dead line. They were also very inexpensive and easy to reach. I'm also going to hire them for with another project
