I hired House Doctors of East Tampa to patch a medium-sized hole in my drywall and lay wood-look porcelain tile in my 800 sq ft condo. Ron, who completed both the drywall repair and tile installation, did a fantastic job. He was knowledgeable and professional. Unfortunately, the owner/office manager of this company was rude beyond belief. House Doctors quoted me on the tile job at a per square foot price and told me the job would take 3 days. The price from House Doctors was comparable to other quotes I received for the tile job, as was the estimated time to complete the job, but I hired House Doctors as they could start the work immediately. The tile installation ended up taking twice as long as they originally said. When the job was complete the owner/office manager sent me the rudest message I have ever received from a service company, essentially blaming me for the fact that they underestimated how long it would take to lay the tile. For that reason, I would not hire this company again. It is very that the owner is so disrespectful because otherwise, Ron did great work.

The work was completed professionally and to my satisfaction. I also appreciated the fact that they were able to handle a variety of tasks, from painting, to tile, to plumbing. Nonetheless, all work was done on an hourly basis, which made it difficult to control expenses. Ultimately, the main job took longer than estimated and the additional work I requested took longer than estimated, as well. Thus, the final costs exceeded my expectations and my budget. Going forward, I will consider looking for a flat rate business model for home repairs, although that has to be weighed against the high quality of work from this vendor. If you do opt for the hourly rate, keep track of the hours spent. While the TOTAL number of hours on the final bill seemed fair, the breakdown on the bill did not accurately reflect the time spent at my house. The bill actually included time spent on another job, but then it did not include all the time spent here. I understand that was a clerical error (and this is a new business), but the error was not corrected and certainly raises concerns. I paid the bill - did not want this hanging over my head - but I would have appreciated a correction on the bill.
