I have to assume that HSC is capable of providing acceptable work as some of these other reviewers state. We did not have that experience. Replacing our driveway and sidewalks has been overly time-consuming, very costly and completely disheartening. We expected the standard reasonably flat, gray concrete with typical broom-finish and sloped away from the house. We now have to live with curled, ragged edges around the perimeter of each section, excessive gaps at expansion joints and house that seep in water and leach out soil, large ponding areas in many sections, assorted amorphous globs, smears and other randomly configured surface blemishes, and a thin white crust over the entire surface that will eventually chip and spall with wear and expose the gray surfaces below with leprous result. These are only the major visible issues, some of which will require expensive repairs and necessarily add to the hideous visual character. HSC offered a repair solution that required us to pay for all of the primary materials and only addressed the locations that pond water against the house. I don t know if they will respond to this review but don t be misdirected by a doweling into the slab excuse. First, ask yourself if it s acceptable to have heavy, traffic-bearing concrete slabs hanging from your home s perimeter foundation beam instead of independently supported by a standard, stable soil base, and then consider if that excuse could actually prevent any of the conditions described here. Also, a good concrete contractor would know the appropriate concrete mix for installation weather conditions.
Response from Company:
Dear Randall, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We understand your concerns and regret that the project did not meet your expectations. However, we feel it is important to address several key points to provide a complete picture of the situation. Throughout the project, we made multiple recommendations to ensure the durability and stability of the concrete work, including: Dowel Installation: We strongly advised installing dowels to support the new concrete and prevent sinking. This recommendation was declined by you due to concerns about your foundation and to avail the discount we offered for omitting the dowels. Expansion Joints: We suggested placing expansion joints closer together than your plans specified to accommodate the concrete's natural expansion and contraction. You chose to adhere to your original plans. Patio Slope: We recommended a greater slope for your patio than the 1" indicated in your plans to enhance drainage. This suggestion was also declined. Ramp Addition: The ramp was added at a later stage due to your concerns about the step height to the threshold, which was not part of the initial plan. Fence Material: We advised using new materials for the fence for better durability. However, this recommendation was turned down to save costs. Concrete Pour Timing: Considering the hot weather, we recommended an early morning pour to ensure optimal conditions for the concrete. This suggestion was also declined in favor of sticking to the original schedule. Rebar Installation: Proper reinforcement, such as rebar at the bottom of the steps, was suggested to enhance stability, but it was not incorporated per your plans. Regarding your request for us to collaborate with your foundation repair team, we believe this falls outside the scope of our original agreement, especially since the concrete replacement areas align with where your foundation team plans to install their piers. Furthermore, we went to arbitration to resolve this dispute, and the arbitrator agreed with our position. The decision confirmed that our recommendations were sound and that the issues stemmed from deviations from our professional advice. We are committed to delivering quality work and believe that our recommendations, if followed, would have prevented many of the issues you are experiencing. We take pride in our craftsmanship and strive to ensure customer satisfaction, but we cannot be held responsible for outcomes directly related to deviations from our professional advice. If there is anything further we can discuss to address your concerns, please feel free to reach out. Sincerely, Houston Solid Concrete

Joey and his crew installed a walkway in our front yard, and I am very pleased with the job they did. The work was done well, the entire crew very helpful, and I especially appreciated being able to communicate with Joey, if I need to, in a timely manner. This will be the company I'll call on for my next home improvement project.
