The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
My experience with Hyatt at Home Comfort Solutions was a mixed bag. While the installation itself was excellent, the delays, lack of communication, and unexpected additional expense made the overall experience disappointing.
The Good — 5 Stars
After two days of texting back and forth with Hyatt, I selected a mini-split unit for my workshop, paid my deposit on August 26, and was told it would probably take a week or so to arrive because none were available locally.
When the installation finally took place, the workmanship was outstanding. Hyatt’s installer did a great job, and Hyatt later joined him to help complete the installation. They encountered a couple of error codes during startup but stayed with the unit until the issues were resolved. The installation looks great, and they did an excellent job cleaning up afterward. I have no complaints whatsoever about the quality of their work.
The Bad — 3 Stars, and That’s Generous
It took 34 days from deposit to installation. Sixteen days after paying, I was contacted to schedule the installation, only to be told the day before that the unit still had not arrived. When I followed up a week later, I was told a shipping update was unavailable because "his guy" was on vacation. After another six days without an update, I had to reach out again to get the installation scheduled. I understand that supply delays happen, but having to repeatedly initiate contact to find out what was going on was frustrating.
The Ugly — 1 Star
From the beginning, I felt that I made it clear how important Wi-Fi remote control was to me. After installation, I discovered that my particular unit required an additional dongle to enable that functionality. After confirming the part number and sending it to Hyatt, I waited a week before following up, only to be told there would be an additional $225 charge for the part and installation.
Hyatt explained that “his guy” had told him the unit would work and that, because he was a small business and had given me a good price, he would not cover the additional cost. I ultimately purchased the dongle myself for $102, including shipping. The installation should be straightforward, but the expense was one I believe I should never have had to incur. The unit was advertised as Wi-Fi capable, and I had emphasized that feature from the beginning. This should have been addressed in the original quote, not presented as an additional expense after the installation was complete.
The installation deserves five stars. Unfortunately, the overall customer experience does not. Good workmanship matters, but so do communication, follow-through, and delivering what the customer reasonably understood they were purchasing.
If Hyatt is disappointed with this less-than-stellar review, he can once again blame “his guy.”
