Awful experience? difficult to get a callback, was chastised for having the audacity to ask when they would be out, never finished the deck. What the contractor did complete was good.

The deck was done quickly and professionally and looks fantastic. The only thing I wished was that an on site measurement and survey was done at the time we booked. In the end, the job was very well done and our next door neighbor hired Hynes to rebuild his deck after he saw the quality of the work and we referred Hynes to him.

Last October 2020, Hynes was contracted to repair a gutter that was not draining. They proposed replacing it. They installed a new gutter. I paid for them. And the gutter still did not drain. The problem was not resolved. Several phone calls and lots of promises and after 8 months the gutter still does not drain. I have contracted another company to make the repair. In summary, they are very non-responsive, and obviously not competent. I will not hire/recommend them again.

They have not acknowledged the mistake they made and corrected it. The work they have done is good but be responsible for your mistake.

Hynes workers both replaced the roof and painted the house. The job required a considerable amount of repair and complicated woodworking. As well, the painting prep done by a crew hired by Hynes was not adequate. The senior contractor and senior painter provided excellent work and completed roofing components and painting repairs. The work appears to be of very high quality.

Deck or Porch - Repair
Hynes may or may NOT be decent roofers. They know nothing about deck repair, or exterior carpentry. I hired them to do a simple wood railing installation and a more complicated beam re-enforcement. I paid significantly more the I would a guy and a truck because they allegedly had 100s of similar jobs. A 50% deposit was made with work to begin 05/08. Work was started late, near the end of the month, by a sub-contractor, causing me to pay excessive insurance premiums. Material used for the railing was inferior grade and the workmanship was of such poor quality that it all had to be pulled out with new material and installer sent to do the work, Hynes left the job site without ever addressing the major beam problem. Its technicians had no idea how to address it. I asked John Hynes for a partial refund to indemnify me for the cost of hiring a carpenter to fix the beam. HE REFUSED. My attorney tells me that in Delaware County, the contract I signed gives me few options, other than appeal to the next level if I lose. BE VERY CAREFUL OF ANY CONTRACT, READ CAREFULLY...I Didnt.

They were the best! Called to confirm the appointment. Pete was very thorough and explained everything that needed to be fixed. The next day I got a very descriptive estimate for what we needed at a fair price and didnt try to upsell us things that we didnt need or ask for. I recommend highly Hynes for all your home improvement needs.
