We own a multi-family home in Oakland California, and wanted to add an accessory dwelling unit to the property. We interviewed a few architects, and ultimately chose to hire Irene. From the very start, she was timely and has actively worked towards completing the project on budget and in a timeline manor. After the initial consultation, I provided a list of "must have" and "nice to have" for the proposed structure. After a couple revisions, our plans maximize the living space for the area provide and will integrate seamlessly within the existing property. I am truly amazed at how she was able to incorporate all these elements into the ADU, while ensuring the space did not feel cramped. She provided suggestions for ideas which we hadn't even thought to ask for! In addition to designing the ADU, Irene has helped us through the post-design phase steps, including obtaining structural engineer plans, the permitting process, and other pre-development activities. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the work Irene has done, and she has truly made this a smoother process than I had initially imagined. We recently purchased a run down, small 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom house with the intention to turn it into our dream home. We interviewed a few designers, and ultimately chose to hire Irene. After the initial consultation, I provided a laundry list of "must have" and "nice to have" changes for the home. After a couple revisions, our plans now have every single item from both of my lists incorporated into the plans, including expanding to a 4 bed / 3.5 bath, a laundry room, walk in pantry, large master bathroom and walk in closet, and an open concept indoor/outdoor covered deck off the back of our kitchen. I am truly amazed at how she was able to incorporate all these elements into a house, and ensure the rooms still all flow nicely. She also provided a ton of suggestions for ideas which I hadn't even thought to ask for! In addition to designing an amazing home, Irene has helped us through the post-design phase steps, including obtaining structural engineer plans and gaining city approval.
