They did a great job. They made sure that the paint covered old water stains. The original paint didn't work so they used a different product. The work looked great and they didn't leave a mess.

The service tech was professional, pleasant and genuine. It was her first time working alone but seemed competent in her task. Was kind of hoping her supervisor would physically be back on site to discuss the outcome and what other actions we needed to take. He did call and give advice but had not been on site to my knowledge. I also didn t like getting a billing statement saying I was overdue payment one day after the job was complete. I even asked for a statement prior to receiving the bill. Also, when the tech left, it was unclear if the job was completed. Not at all dissatisfied but communication could have been a little better.

Important: CHECK THEIR WORK WHEN THEY ARE DONE. This review will likely be followed by their manager Rachel expressing obligatory appreciation for the feedback, saying they are always trying to improve their process and insisting they addressed all of my concerns and completed the work according to contract. In reality, they produced a very detailed contract for what was supposed to be a thorough treatment of the entire exposed area of my basement including treatment and wiping of exposed floor joists, box seals, etc. and included a professional duct cleaning by a subcontractor to remove all debris from the duct work. After the treatment was completed, bone-dry wood and cobwebs that had been there before told me the ceiling was neither sprayed or wiped, and some camera exploration into my cold air returns showed plenty of debris remained. The duct cleaner damaged my furnace, leaving me without heat during the last cold snap of the winter. They "made every effort to address all my concerns" as you will no doubt read soon, sending someone back to spray the ceiling to some degree and having the duct cleaner return to clean some more out, still leaving behind piles of debris on the floor, some in the ducts, and leaving my back door open when he left. They offered no more than a 5% discount and an additional $50 discount for a window screen their technicians ripped out to run their exhaust fan outside. This was a $4200 job that was supposed to take 3 days and completion was delayed over 2 weeks, blamed on their furnace cleaners equipment. The worst part, as I see it, is they do not check their own work. They would have called their partial completion done. Don't let them get you. In the end I don't think she appreciated my feedback, she did not fully address my concerns, and just threatened to send the bill to collections if I didn't pay a high price for low quality work.
Response by Illinois Home Solutions: Heath, Though we do appreciate most clients' feedback, we do not appreciate false claims in attempt to sneak out of paying for work that was performed. It is clear from our other reviews and awards that we perform high quality work and that if there is ever a problem, we make it right. To address some of your claims: The area of cobwebs that you are referencing was an area of the basement that was not affected my mold. Your contract states that we would wipe the floor joists of the affected area of the basement; the cobwebs were not in an affected area of the basement. However, in attempt to meet your satisfaction, we returned to wipe down the cobwebs in that unaffected space of the basement. You claim that your furnace was damaged by your air duct cleaning; however, you have told us that it in fact was not damaged and that you reset your furnace. We feel it unnecessary to lie about your furnace being damaged but find it especially unnecessary to lie about the temperature that week or to make it appear as if you lived in the home during a bitter cold. This home was vacant and the average temperature during your March project was 53 degrees, hardly a "cold snap of winter." The air duct cleaner found while cleaning your air ducts, that you have extensive wiring run throughout your duct system and a past or current mouse infestation. The approximately 40 mouse nests were removed from your duct system at no extra charge. During this process, the machines used to clean your ducts were damaged and needed repaired; therefore, there was a week and a half wait to have him return. You claim that our technicians broke your window screen; however, this would not be possible as our equipment does not need to go through a window screen (AIR from the negative air machine goes through a window screen, but equipment does not). You sent a picture of a screen that was not broken but needed to have the mesh refit into the track frame. We understand the hassle of having to refit mesh into the screen and understand that there is no way for us to prove it didn't happen on our watch so, for that reason, we offered to either replace the whole thing or credit you $50. As you have stated, your contract was completed in its entirety and we provided a total of $260 credit as a good will gesture in order to make concession. It is unfortunate that even after correcting every concern, providing discounts, and doing more work than contracted in remediating a mouse problem, that it was not possible to meet your satisfaction.
