I would try someone else . I had a noon appointment , they came at 8am ! With NO notice . The repaired the ceiling and sanded with no tarps , left the place a mess . The person I got to paint told me that part of the ceiling was sagging ! Need I say more ? Oh yeah and they were rude to the person who was there because he suggested they put plastic or tarp down

Ken is very straightforward about how everything will be handled. We needed drywall repairs at the ceiling and corners, and his team member did great. With a team of 4, they painted very large spaces in half a day. I was astounded and thrilled with the quality, low-odor paint, the attention to detail, and the price was right. We're about to be a repeat customer! Two more jobs coming up soon. We highly recommend Ken & Illinois Wall Doctors.

You decide! I was told by Ken that my wallpapered walls would be cheaper to paint if they applied oil based primer and filled the gaps with mud (drywall goup). OK, set the appointment and 2 men showed up. They spent 8 hours applying the products and painting. They told me they would have to come back the next morning to finish the job. Part of our contract was for them to paint the woodwork around the 2 windows. They returned and told me they were finished. I went into the room and the window frames were not painted. They called Ken, and were told there was a misunderstanding and that they needed to paint the woodwork. Ok, this happens. They left and the work seemed good at the time. During all the applications and detailing, they were using just the lamp we had in the bedroom, no other light source. The afternoon sun finally came out and all the stripes from unfinished mudding were visible as seen in the first pic. At night with the bedroom lamp it was worse. The mud was not even feathered. I called Ken, and he said he would take care of it, so he asked my schedule. I told him Friday I would be there at 9:20 AM, so he said, *I will rearrange things and have someone there.* On my way home at 9:10 AM on Friday I get a call from Ken saying, the guys are working 21 miles away and will not be there until 12:30 or 1:00, and he would keep me posted. He also asked if that was *ok*. I was not happy but I said yes. At about 1:30 I get a call saying it will be closer to 2:00, so I expressed my unhappiness that a whole day has been shot. Ken replied in an email (quotes), *I am doing the best I can... I can not have guys sitting waiting until 9:30 to start... they need to be producing @ OUR time of 8am*. Oh, so what I was told earlier was not true! They showed at 1:50, and for the next 5 plus hours they were trying to fix what was messed up. Luckily my wife viewed the room and said it was ok. The 2 other attached pics show the ripples in the paint and the bleed through in their work, which they told my wife was painted with 3 coats. Earlier I had asked them where their work light was, and they said they did not have one, so I gave them MY drop light. They paint and put up dry wall mud, and do not carry any of their own work lights? I find this amazing, since Ken told me his people *are professional*. As I told him, *There is never time to do it right the first time but there is always time to do it again.* The next day, I spent 4 hours finishing a job that I paid quite a bit to have done. Would you recommend them?

We hired the Wall Doctors to do some work around some skylights. They removed wood paneling and replaced with drywall, finished and painted. They also replaced existing ceiling fan/ lights with new ones provided by us. In and out in under 2 days and did a great job with the work and cleaning up after themselves. Reasonably priced and quality work.

I have hired Illinois Wall Doctors twice. First, to hang and tape drywall in my basement. Second, to repair the ceiling in my kitchen that had been damaged by a plumbing leak. In both instances, Ken (the owner/President) was very prompt in responding to my call and providing a quote. Sad as it is to say, in my experience, this is a rarity when hiring contractors--very few returned my calls and some didn't even provide quotes after meeting with me. Ken's company was far ahead of his peers in customer communication. Most importantly, Ken's drywall guys arrived promptly at their scheduled time, completed the work efficiently, and did an excellent job. I cannot tell that they patched my ceiling. Ken's rates for my two drywall jobs were very reasonable. His installation and taping guys were very friendly and helpful. Additionally, Ken provided excellent plumber and electrician referrals to complete my related jobs. Illinois Wall Doctors is now my first call for any drywall work or repair.

The individual that performed the work was courteous and did a good job with the quality of the repairs. However, after the work was completed, the owner (Ken) attempted to send me an additional invoice for work that I originally asked to be included in the original estimate. While he may have misunderstood the scope of the work during text exchanges, he should have come to the worksite to confirm the nature of the work if there was any confusion or he was going to dicker over the replacement of a 2 foot by a 6-inch piece of drywall. While this would have been just a minor blip in an overall adequate experience, the owner continued to text me with sarcastic comments and emojis, questioning my integrity and threatening to sue me if I gave him a negative review that (in his mind) mischaracterized my experience. I can assure you this is a very balanced discussion with respect to only the second complaint in my life I have ever felt compelled to share on a public forum. Overall, the owner considerably soiled what could have been a good experience. If you decide to contract with this company, I would recommend that you establish the scope of work in great specificity (do not rely on texts); however, I would recommend that you chose a company that appreciates your business and is not owned by an individual that insults customers when an agreement does not meet his understanding.
Response from Illinois Wall Doctor, Inc.
"This is not at all why this customer and I had an issue, this customer knowingly took advantage of my company, he conducted himself in a deceptive manner bringing about the problem at hand: The customer provided me with pictures of the repairs needed (as is always done), he had replaced a tub surround (not the tub) and needed the drywall around it replaced and finished... he did however have a wainscot that he removed on the lower 30" or so. I saw that the drywall had been damaged upon homeowners removal of the wainscot in that area and I asked if that needed to be repaired as well, the homeowner said no, I will be replacing the wainscot. That was fine with me as it was a cosmetic issue and would as he stated be covered upon install of new wainscot. When my employee arrived the homeowner instructed him to make these repairs after having told me they were not needed his estimate did not include them. I was then notified by the employee of the added repairs and reached out to the customer immediately by phone and text WITH NO RESPONSE, I instructed my employee to have the homeowner call me... HE DID NOT. The employee was instructed to complete all and I would just bill the balance of added repair a minor charge of $30 mind you. Once the job was complete and my employee had left the home the homeowner who previously couldn't answer a phone or text or call me while my man was on site suddenly/CONVENIENTLY became avail for reply and refused the added charge. This homeowner took advantage of my company, there was NO MISUNDERSTANDING, I knew the scope of the job and I assure you so did the homeowner, he like so many wanted something for nothing. My issue with the homeowner was not in the $$ for the repair, it was in the underhanded way he conducted himself... and yes, because of it I do question his integrity. There were no threats cast I simply informed the homeowner while he has the right to post any review he chooses if he mis characterizes the events and falsely disparages a 4.9* rated company (with hundreds of reviews online) I will sue him... In America we still have the right to defend that which we have worked so hard for !! I did encourage this homeowner to get himself something nice for Christmas... ON ME."
