Groundworks

We hired Groundworks (formerly Baker?s Waterproofing) for a $20,000 basement waterproofing project that was promised to be fast, dust-free, and high-quality. Instead, our home was left coated in concrete dust, parts of the job were rushed, and unsafe wiring still powers our sump pump. Promised electrician service has yet to happen. Three months later, the $10,000 filtration system is still unusable. This project has cost us significant time, caused stress for our family, and left us with ongoing safety concerns. We cannot recommend this company based on our experience. Although one middle manager tried to help and arranged partial repairs, upper management ignored most issues. Three months later, the air filtration system remains unusable, electrical hazards persist, and no restitution has been made. What an exhausting mistake at a deeply personal cost.

Groundworks did an excellent job for us. Everyone was so professional and we know we received quality work for a reasonable price. It has been over a year since our waterproofing project in the fall of 2023. At that time we had “nuisance leaks” in our basement but they were becoming more and more problematic. We hired Groundworks to waterproof our basement. The winter spring and especially the summer of 2024 were very wet where we live. We were so proud of our lovely dry basement. It is now the summer of 2025 with lots of rain but there have been no leaks since Groundworks completed our basement project. We are very happy with their work!

This is the second time we have hired Groundworks (formerly Bakers Waterproofing) to perform work at our house. The first project was in 2017 when we had the waterproofing system installed. We called Groundworks a few weeks ago to get an estimate on lifting our front sidewalk and stairs that have sunk a lot over the past year. The steps had sunk to the point that the railings were not connected to the house, making it very unsafe for anyone coming into the front of our home. Aaron Lenker & Corbin Gillichbover were very professional and knowledgeable when they arrived to assess our sidewalk and steps to lift them. They left our sidewalk and the surrounding area better than when they arrived. Our steps and sidewalk are now level, and the railings are securely attached to the house again. We are thrilled! I would highly recommend Groundworks if you need a basement waterproofing system or any concrete lifted.

Tanner Welling was here today to inspect a small area of water on our basement floor. We have waterproofing from Baker,s, now Groundwork?s for the past 3 years. My husband called on Tuesday about the problem and here was Tanner just 2 days later to inspect the basement! He was very thorough and explained everything in detail as he went along. He is a very nice young man and solved the problem. We were very pleased with the quick response from Groundwork?s and the work of Tanner

Cliff Wertz and George Wertz of Baker's Waterproofing were fantastic. Very polite and respectful of my daughter and me and of the property. They were very clean and worked extremely hard and were extra taxed by the heat, working in 90⁰+ degrees for two days doing very hard labor and precision work with the jacks. I would definitely have them back if I'd ever need anything else they provide.

Beyond happy with the job and team! Chris H, Mike R, and Brett L were phenomenal! They communicated every step of the way and were kind to us and all our questions! They even mopped my basement floor when they were finished, I cannot say enough good things! Thank you Bakers!!!

Certified Field Inspector Shawn Hedricks was very personable, knowledgeable and thorough (inspection took several hours, as the job was extensive). They were able to get me scheduled 2 weeks after the inspection=great turnaround. Foreman Lukas Selleck, along with Dean Hollenbach and Alex Young, arrived promptly each of the two days it took to complete the project, even calling before arriving to confirm arrival time. Dealing with Lukas was the best experience I've had with a contractor of any type, which is saying a lot with a 110-year-old money pit of a house. He went out of his way to explain the process of fixing the problem, answering every question I could think of. The finished product looks wonderful and is an impressive piece of engineering that relieves concern. After the project was completed, he and his team vacuumed and left the area cleaner than it was when they arrived, which was an unexpected bonus. While the expense was eye-watering, their work was very impressive.

Brian, Garrett and Aaron did an amazing job. They were very efficient and finished the job in 1 days. They even troweled the concert after my little 4 legged inspector tried to leave his autographs on their work. I feel I can rest easy knowing my house is secure and dry in the days to come. I expect to complete another inspection in spring 2024 to complete the job. They worked with me to make the repair affordable.

Lukas, Dean, Peter and Leon were an excellent crew. They were friendly, professional and competent and did a great job on a major foundation repair. I still can't believe they actually lifted my house!

I hired their employee Ryan to find the source of flooding in my basement but instead felt forced into buying their product. When the foreman(Paul) & workers came to install the system they started to destroy my basement by cutting the 2x4 and layers of insulation. I told the foreman to stop because Ryan never told me that they would do this and Paul replied, “The salesperson doesn’t know what we do. They just want to sell the product to you. We need to do what we were sent to do.” So they continued working without my consent, and by the time they were done, my basement was destroyed, they ruined my yard, made my walkway crooked, and cracked a piece of siding because nothing was level. It rained and the emergency alarm would not stop beeping. The system was circling water and not discharging it. I was scared that my basement would flood. Still, nothing has been fixed. My walkway, yard, siding, 2x4, and insulation are still in disrepair and the entire system is still in limbo.

I would give them a 10 if I could. They were great.

Really professional and friendly, were able to complet the work way faster than I expected and showed up on time, and finished a day early. I'm very happy and as they were able to fix structural issues as well as put in a french drain at the same time, they took a lot of heartache out of the organisation. The crew were skilled and experienced and happy to share project knowledge. I'm recommending them to my neighbour.
