D. & Board Certified Entomologist, Joshua Kramer, President and seasoned industry expert who was previously responsible for scaling one of the nations top 100 revenue producing pest management firms over a 14-year span, James Young, an expert in environmental atmospheric debris, grime and mold remediation, and Stephen Kramer—who brings wildlife, pest control, construction and exclusion expertise. At Innotech Pest Management Inc, our company is based on the belief that our customers' needs are of the utmost importance. Our team is committed to meeting those needs. How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because My father and co-founder of InnoTech Pest is a Board Certified Entomologist and retired Army Entomologist. Thus, as the son of an entomologist, I developed a shared interest and passion for helping customers properly identify pest problems and developing creative, environmentally-considerate and safe solutions to permanently resolve them. We proudly maintain the highest regard for ethics, honesty, technical ability, and environmental sustainability, and are grateful for the thousands of customers we have serviced over the years. .

My experience with James, Shawn, and the InnoTech Pest Management team was top-notch from start to finish. James called almost immediately after I submitted an inquiry. He came out the next day, diagnosed the problem, told me the plan of action, and gave me a quote. Throughout the process of rodent removal, Shawn displayed professionalism and expertise. He first sealed off access points on the outside of our home, then worked for a week to make sure the inside of the home remained clean. He kept in constant contact. He came daily to check traps. His demeanor is friendly, and he makes communication easy. He also didn't mind my Westie dog saying good morning each time he visited. I highly recommend James, Shawn and the InnoTech team if you find yourself unfortunate enough to develop a rodent problem.

Control or Inspect for Termites

I highly recommend this company. James found that the Drywood termites were coming from a piece of furniture and not from the house. Which we were told by someone else that we would have to fumigate the whole house. We are ever so grateful for him finding the true hiding place of the termites.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the state in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Businesses will not be admitted to the network if their owners or principals have the following felonies in their available criminal records*:

Arson

Assault/domestic violence/battery

Child abuse

Intimidation/terrorist threats

Kidnapping/abduction

Lewd and lascivious behavior

Manslaughter/murder/homicide/vehicular homicide

Rape/incest

Robbery/carjacking

Sex offenses

Other felonies not listed above that occurred in the past seven years

Contracting without a license in the past seven years

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened biennially.

How is COVID-19 impacting the HomeAdvisor background check program?

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, several government agencies and courts across the country have temporarily closed their offices. While HomeAdvisor will continue its background check program to the extent possible, these closures could prevent some background checks from being performed. Please be advised that, during this period, if we could not perform a background check, HomeAdvisor will allow the business into the network and match the business to consumers. As affected government agencies and courts begin to re-open, we will resume our program in those jurisdictions. As always, we encourage consumers to perform their own research, to the extent possible, before hiring any business.

Licensing

We verify any applicable state-level licenses, and we require every business to attest that they carry the appropriate local licensing to practice their trade. Please note that HomeAdvisor does not confirm local licensing. Do your own research using online ratings, reviews and through phone interviews before hiring a company.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
