Yes Richard Farrant is in custody being tried by several eastern Virginia localities this summer for construction fraud and other felonies after making off with the advance deposits and doing no work. I have also asked state AG to consider RICO charges against Farrant and his son Vincent as a criminal enterprise. Fake addresses, fake names. It is been a way of business for 30 years or so looking at the case registers in Virginia Beach and others going back to 1997.

IRONMAN EXTERIORS (Rich) is in jail. The address 4445 Corporation lane, Va Bch is a service he uses for mail. They seem to forward his mail to real address. If you go on that site they list several problems about him and warnings. He does not live or have an office there. I too was taken by this company. Fake, fake, fake. Uses many fake addresses/names, etc. Brought only Spanish speaking workers, they were dropped off. So bad that that they used phone to look up how to build a deck. Terrible job, plus on deck they didn't finish all of it. We had to get another contractor who informed us deck was all wrong and 100% of work had to be redone. They were to do bathroom walls and put in a subfloor/floor. What a disaster that was. Again everything had to be redone. Threatened legal action, but they lost license in March 2023. Did not inform us he was unlicensed. DO NOT USE. He will probably start another company or two, since this one isn't licensed. He has been in and out of jail for many, many years for keeping money. His 2nd in command guy would bring beer for worker at lunch. I questioned him about it and said it wasn't in contract. He seems to have used Bluestar Exteriors also. Wmbg

This Crook stiffed me out of $8,000.00. I lost my husband to Cancer 11/11/2021. I hired Ironman Exteriors LLC. Found them on Angie's List. This Man (Rich [Last Name Removed]) ran down this story that he lost his poor wife to Cancer (Lier) He had he son Vincent with him who wrote up the contract. I paid him to start the work,. It took 5 months to start, not without me threatening to go to 10 on your side. He sent over 2 men who didn't speak English, however, finished the first part (deck) in 2 days. I was pleased with the deck and looked forward to the completion of my porch. I had given [Last Name Removed] the money to finish the work and he text me to say his crew would start 11/2022. He ghosted me so I took him to Court. The address he has as Cypress Ave is also a fraud. If you need to take him to Court the address is 4445 CORPORATION LANE, SUITE 259, VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. 23462-3260. IF YOU NEED TO SUE THIS CROOK. He is the lowest of the low, He took advantage of me in the most difficult time of my life.

We are elated that this scam artist is finally in jail where he belongs. If we just had done our research he would not have taken our money and run. I pray that he gets what is coming to him. I recommend that you pursue; contact a police officer who might be able to help. Thatâ s what we did!

Contractor alert! Ironman Exteriors, aka Rich Ferrante, aka Richard P. Farrant, is a scam artist and convicted felon. He gave us a fake name and fake reviews. He then took a $5000 deposit and never performed any work. He just kept texting us that he would be there next week, which, if you read the news articles about him from NY to NC, is his standard MO. He also uses the identities of his children as a cover. His first son was actually arrested (as you can see in the news article) and apparently had no idea his dad took his identity. Now he works with his son, Vincent Farrant, and if you go to the licensing website, you can find lawsuits that name him as well. I cannot imagine something so evil. Please guard yourself against this man!

DO NOT hire them. scam. they took 1/3 of the money to do a project in October. never shown up. same as everyone else who commented... never called us back when we did get in touch we got a bunch of excuses. our contract says Bluestar exteriors LLC, but he wanted us to write a check out to Ironman LLC. beware, people.

This review is based on my opinion and experience as a reasonable person and a customer of this business and does not purport to represent fact. Do not recommend hiring this business for anything, even if they were the only contractor available!!! Highly unethical bullies. Lied consistently. Only followed through on requested permitting when pressed (and lied about it every step of the way); first saying it was not required (when it was), then saying it was filed (when it was not), then demanding payment before resolving our punch list items, and ultimately threatening to tear down what was built unless we paid that day. Failed to communicate throughout; however, demanded same-day payment even though the job was not complete to our satisfaction (pending final inspection to ensure they built according to code). Threatened us numerous times with legal action, which was a bullying tactic in my opinion. Failed to start the work when they said they would. Never had any idea when they were showing up. Did not adequately work with us to ensure the design and architectural items were understood. Much of it was designed on the fly. Terrible communication, reduced to written-only communication as we felt it was highly likely would turn to litigation (and was tired of being verbally bullied). The only slightly redeeming outcome was that the work was done, adequately. It was so bad that wish there was some way to encourage even greater accountability than poor reviews (going to ensure these words are posted everywhere possible). I hope no one else has to experience what we went through.

He took a third of the payment and never showed up. He just gave me a lot of excuses for 4 months.

Friendly at first but turned sour after the decking we choose in person was ordered incorrectly because they had their composite decking mixed up in their look book the one we chose was to match the exact color of our screened-in porch. We paid EXTRA $3K to have it match. They even tried to convince us to choose a less expensive option for the deck, but we declined because we wanted it to match correctly. When the decking started going down it was Blue Not grey, way off from the deck. When we confronted the builder he said that it was our fault and that we chose the color. when in fact we handed him the color that matched our current porch. When he wrote it down he wrote the wrong color. We even offered to split the cost of reordering. He refused and was very unprofessional. Rather than stop work they installed and finished the deck. The quality of work was good, the project took 6 months over what it was originally supposed to take. Highly disappointed in the ethics of this business and the unprofessional of the entire situation. I would do your own research on this owner and his business practices not just on this site but online.

No permits were pulled. Work was not done correctly by subcontractors. I found out that Rich is a fraud contractor along the East coast. owes money and labor I would never recommend it. They have changed their name and have other businesses. Beware!

On May 11, 2021 , I signed a contract. Work did not start until September 2021 after I called. Rich said he thought the job had been done. A crew did show up consisting of two men who did not speak English and one who more or less did. Work progressed slowly and is still not finished. What work has been done is sub-standard. I have been lied to, ignored, and still paying off a credit card bill in the full amount which was not the agreement. I have been dealing with this for 13 months and have been to court. I absolutely would NOT advise anyone to dealwith Rich Ferrente or E Ironman.

Unprofessional, unresponsive. Did not complete the work as contracted. 

Deck came out beautifully. The team stayed within the designated timeline.

Work in on track and progressing. Weather has hampered the pace of the project, but work is moving along with no complaints. Have been in constant communication with Rich and his crew leader. Still tracking for a completion date of 6 June.

They appeared to be legitimate at first, I got a written contract with them and they sent people out to measure my deck. I gave them a third of the cost as down payment and now they have failed to show up to start the job in over a month and they also have not responded any of my messages or phone calls.

Friendly, extremely knowledgeable about his products. Would highly recommend!

On Time finished the job early professionally.

They did a good job.

Showed up on time, did a wonderful job and even cleaned up great! Would definitely do business with again!
