On 5/1/23 I called Joseph Marotta's company, Island-Tech Home Design LLC through Angi's List. Joe responded to my voicemail by text message. We discussed the project I was hiring him for (assembling a Rubbermaid shed) and both agreed on $350 for the price of the project. We set the time and date of 5/5/23 at 10 am for Joe and his helper to arrive at my residence. Joe arrived an hour late, however that was not a problem. Joe and his helper were very polite and eager to work. However, when they were about 50% done with the project, they notified me that a piece was missing from the box, and they were unable to complete the build. I bought them a large pizza pie and soda for their hard work, and we discussed the next steps in order to get the piece ordered. Joe assisted me in speaking to the company to assure that everything was ordered correctly. Joe seemed to be compassionate and said that he would come back to finish the project when the piece arrives in the mail. I gave them $360 in cash ($10 over the quoted price) and asked for a receipt. Joe said that since he is coming back to finish the project, he would give me the receipt then. On 5/15/23 I texted Joe telling him that the piece came in and since I already paid him $360 in cash, I would give him some additional money for competing the project. Joe’s response was recommending a date for the work to be scheduled; however, he did not propose a date. The following day is when he stopped responding to all my communications (phone call and text messages). I reached out from 5/16/23 to 5/19/23 without any response. I would like for this to be rectified immediately as I was left with an incomplete project. I will move forward with the completion of the shed without a provider from Angi’s List.

"In my response for this review, the shed install was 90% complete and unable to finish the install on such date as planned, due to an important part (part-1/3 roof panel) that was missing and needed to be sent from the manufacturer. I spoke to the company on behalf of the customer and placed the order for the part to arrive at the home in the upcoming weeks. Several weeks later, when the customer called to reschedule, i had been away for that week and was not able to be reached. I contacted the customer once I returned, and she was unhappy that I was not able to be reached. We were not able to complete the install prior to an upcoming event that she had planned within 2 days' time. We tried our best to be as convenient as possible. They could not wait until the following week in order to finish the installation. We then offered and sent a refund of $90, and apologized for the inconvenience. I feel there was nothing more that could be done."
