J&L Chimney Works installed a pellet stove in my home and did a great job. I had hired a contractor, A to Z Chimney out of Danvers, to line the chimney this past summer to avoid having to do that work during the winter. BIG MISTAKE. A to Z Chimney did not install liner to the correct length, cut the liner to 20 ft length instead of 40 ft, and used an aluminum liner FOR A PELLET STOVE. J&L handled all the changes in stride, without complaint, removed the cheap Aluminum liner, installed the correct SS liner, which I had purchased, before A&Z got involved, and thought I would be getting a refund since IT SHOULDN"T HAVE BEEN NEEDED. J&L Chimney Works did a great job! (A to Z Chimney is pointing fingers - AVOID THEM).

i recently had a chimney liner and cap installed. they were fantastic in their service and knowledge of the chimney and the brick work needed to complete the job . just wanted to share my good experience with others who may need this work done.

The service technicians were great...professional, very careful about keeping the area clean. Very pleasant and thorough in their efforts, they explained everything they did. Teresa from the office was great about keeping us informed as to when the technicians would arrive etc. Great company to work with, I highly recommend them, and would use them again for any woodstove/pellet stove issues.

They charged me $857 for what they quoted as 4 hours of work, but they only stayed just over an hour. I took a day off work and waited for them to show up - they finally arrived in the afternoon. Confronted the technician when he was leaving after only 1.25 hours. He promised me the bill would be cheaper because they did not have to do as much as they quoted Technician that day was angry that I wanted to pay with a credit card, insisted on the full $857 (moments after promising the bill would be less because he did not do what was initially quoted). They charged me for relaying bricks, but instead knocked bricks off with a hammer and just left them in my back yard. I watched for the duration of the work. They never applied weatherproofing, which they billed for, but their clerical staff insisted that I simply did not see it because it is clear Do not recommend this company to anyone. The owner did not stand by his quote and belittled me when I complained. I have never felt so thoroughly mislead and ripped-off in my life.

Again Ben we are sorry you feel this way and all of us here @ J&L Chimney Works wonder why you waited 9+ months to rate us so poorly noting you signed off on our documentation as satisfied on 10/25/18 when you paid your balance due on your credit card. Two gentleman showed up on time- were very courteous and answered all my additional questions I had regarding my stainless steel liner and cap I had installed in my chimney for my pellet stove. I was quoted a certain amount and I actually was charged less which was a very nice surprise. If I have any additional work done that would involve a mason, I will be calling J & L in the future. My experience using home advisor has been positive and my go to whenever I need a pro that I can trust.
