James Buchanan did shoddy work, didn?t pay his employees, took supplies from the job site(my house) that he did not pay for failed to show up to do the work, demanded more money to do what he agreed to do for a fee. And then issued us the final bill after we never came back to finish the bathrooms or the bedroom. I would?ve filed a lawsuit against him., But he?s already being sued by several people. And he had criminal charges for not doing the work for other jobs. Don?t hire this guy. You will regret it.

James is a skilled scam artist, he stole my money and never showed up to perform the project. For 3 months he promised me a refund and at the end I was forced to file report with police. This person is dishonest and I hope that court will make him pay for theft and emotional distress that he intentionally caused.

J. Buchanan Painting of Clearfield, PA, is by far the worst contractor I have ever dealt with. Work on my handicap accessible bathroom started on September 17, 2018, I paid in full and was promised the job would be done in 10-12 days. Having only completed 1/3 the bathroom almost two months later, via text owner James Buchanan abandoned the job on November 8, 2018. James Bucannon indicated that a refund was in the mail. By November 16, 2018, I had still not received anything, so it became clear no refund was ever sent. By November 20, 2018, I decided to pursue legal assistance. The work that J. Buchanan Painting did complete was very poorly done and they left a huge mess for me to clean up after. During the period between Sep 17th and Nov 8th the crew, often led by foreman Alec, would either show up hours late or not even show. When they did show up, they were rarely prepared and I found they often needed to use my things i.e. tools, ladder, broom, rags etc...

He never finished the project. Never called and updated me with with days they would or wouldn't be there. His crew was on time once in the 3 weeks they were here. Estimated time frame was a week, it took almost a month. Hardly returned phone calls and texts about his crew not showing up or being late. The work looks great, his crew was amazing to work with. But I wouldn't recommend this contractor.

Very professional, finished ahead of schedule, excellent communication on process. Stayed in budget, arrived on time for estimate and work, nice job on clean up. Definitely recommend!
