Reviews
Write a ReviewThey did a great job. The electrician was able to identify the problem and came up with a solution that was reasonable and resolved the problem. I would hire them again.
On time. Patient got the job done well
Thumbs up!
Everyone I spoke to at Cotti-Johnson from the estimate through to installation of my generator were polite, professional and a pleasure to deal with. At the outset, the scope of the project and its cost was explained to me in simple and understandable language. The installation took place precisely on schedule and was completed within 3 hours. I received the necessary follow-up calls from the office to ensure the work was done to my satisfaction. I couldn't be happier with Cotti-Johnson.
DO NOT HIRE FOR HVAC Cotti Johnson has been the single worst contractor I have ever dealt with to date. If you have a simple HVAC repair, they may be able to do it but it's a gamble. If you have a large HVAC related work to be done, do yourself a favor and hire a company that understands the equipment they're dealing with. Where to start... I hired Cotti-Johnson to replace my old oil boiler with a modern heat pump system as the main source of heat for my house. Thomas Kelly, who was the initial person that came and made recommendations on the replacement system, should not be in the business of recommending heating systems to people. First of all, there's no heat load calculation of any kind, which is the first red flag but I didn't know any better at the time. They simply guess based on the size of the house without knowing a single thing about insulation or any other factor. Second mistake was recommending a single indoor head for an entire first floor that's separated by stairs in the middle of it. My initial concern with this was dismissed by Thomas who simply said "just give it a try!" Unfortunately, we're now stuck in a position where we can not remove the old boiler because the new system simply can not heat our first floor evenly. We have hot side and cold side and unfortunately our dining room is now permanently cold. It has been months of unanswered calls and emails and numerous back and forth to come up with a solution with still no end in sight. They do not return calls. Third mistake was installation. It took weeks to convince Cotti-Johnson and countless ignored calls and emails to get them to fix a mistake they made with the original install. Even then, they had to make multiple trips to finally realize they didn't account for line lengths accurately and undercharged the system. They finally did admit this and properly charged the system. They simply did not know how to deal with the equipment they're installing. I had to ask for proof of exactly how much refrigerant was being added in order for them finally do a proper calculation and add correct amount of refrigerant. Hire a diamond certified contractor if you want a Mitsubishi system and do not want to deal with these kind of amateur mistakes. Even after they finally did charge it to seemingly proper levels, they never installed back the brass screw caps for the outdoor unit or put the cover back on all the way. All around careless and amateur work. To add more insult to injury, I have been trying to get in touch with Cotti-Johnson for over 3 months for correcting inspection results and so far all of my calls and emails have been ignored. Learn from my mistakes and avoid this company at all costs.
I appreciated being able to speak with someone in the office to explain my situation (leaking water heater), and having someone come to my home so quickly to go over my options for dealing with the problem. Dylan, Aaron and the entire crew were so professional and knowledgeable about the on-demand hot water system we chose to install. They were a pleasure to work with, and I would highly recommend them to friends in need of similar services.
I would not recommend or ever use this company again. My experience was not a good one. I had no heat on a particularly cold night and l called their 24 hour emergency number on January 8th. and was told the charge would be $189 to come out and address the issue. I thought the price was steep but agreed to it because it was pretty darn cold in my house. The tech came to my home that evening and was there maybe an hour and a half and told me there was a wiring issue. Never had an issue with the wiring before but okay, He went out and got some wire and used that to repair what the problem was. The boiler fired up and appeared to be working. I was then asked to sign multiple blank screens on their hand held system as receipt of work done. I had no idea what I was signing as the screen was blank! The tech then told me that charge for the repair was an additional $231.00 for labor and repair. Again, I thought the price was high but I was happy to have the system up and running. When I asked for a receipt I was told it would come to me on my email. I was told my boiler was old which I knew and the technician suggested I schedule an appointment for someone to give me a price quote on a new boiler and I agreed to this. Well less than 45 minutes after the tech left the system shut down and stopped working again. I called the emergency number again to let them know and the answering service took all of my information and said they would pass this on. I was expecting at least a call back. Nothing... So I was no better off than I was before I called but now just out $420.00. I received a message the next day from someone wanting to schedule a time to come out and give a price for a new boiler. No mention of my call back to them regarding the issue at hand. I called the office later that day to voice my dissatisfaction of the the repair and no return call and was told the person I would need to speak to was on vacation so wouldn't get back to me for a week. I explained the situation to the woman who answered the phone and asked for my receipt which was never sent. I did later that afternoon get a call back from someone . He asked what I was looking for them to do and I said - can you get someone back to look at this since I paid for the service and it was fixed for 45 minutes (enough time to get paid and leave) and then stopped working. He said basically there is nothing more they could do and I need a new boiler. I would never recommend this company and told them no thank you on for any pricing on a new boiler. Wouldn't do business with them ever again.
Cotti was in touch with me at all times , Dylan the technician was excellent and polite made me feel at ezz would definitely recommend these guys.
My electrician from Cotti-Johnson HVAC was a master electrician. If you get him, you are getting the best. I went with the most expensive work package of the 3 that were presented. First off, it was pricey. I knew that going in. I want Cotti-Johnson to understand that I am serious about a working relationship with them. I feel I have done that with their electrical department. Now, if I need their plumbing or HVAC service, our relationship can build off the first experience.
Service was professional and friendly. I like the options I was given at time of payment, and how he explained everything he saw after servicing my furnace. No pressure just given the facts with options in the future for replacement parts.
