JD Handyman Services - Unlicensed Contractor

On May 5th of this year, my bathtub would no longer drain. I decided to have a shower put in. I hired a Handyman service thru Home advisor to fix the drain and install a shower. The man that does the work for JD Handyman Services, Chris Chris removed the old tub and put it in my front yard. All the tear out was either on my porch or in the front yard OR still in the wall. After this part of the job was done he said he had to leave (after 3 or 4 hours). I had no shower & a mess. He was going to leave the water turned off and i told him he had to turn it back on. Can you imagine! He showed me pictures of the shower stall, shower head, cabinet and sink he thought I would like. These were on the Home Depot Website and I told him that was fine. The next day he brought over the shower wrap-around wall piece, and base to the shower. He proceeded to install the shower. This went on for several days, he asked if he could have some more of the monies owed to him, I gave him another advance. My husband had passed on May 11th. This nightmare was still going on. I didnt have a shower and had to use the sink for a long time. I was very much in distress. I complained to his boss, and he came by one time. After the shower was installed, the drain still wouldnt drain, and for about a week Chris but some really toxic stuff in the drain, which ruined the floor of the shower (pictures Included). He called his boss, who called me and told me that they were going to have to tear out the shower because the pipes were bad under the shower and that he wanted another $300 to do so. (remember this is the original reason that I called them) but I was at their mercy. When he fixed the drain, and put the shower back in, he didnt finish it. There is also a cut in the wall above my stove, where he ran his saw thru the wall by mistake. He didnt tell me this and it was hidden by loose paint pushed back against it so I couldnt see it. I was very concerned that he didnt know what he was doing. There were spaces behind the spout and faucet where the water could go behind it. The next time I saw Chris, I told him he clearly that he didnt know what he was doing and to stop the work. I asked him to please provide the shower door, since I had already paid for it. He said he would, he told me for 2-3 months that there was a hold up because of COVID and that Home Depot was 75 truckloads behind in deliveries, so I waited. Long story short, he never delivered the shower door, and i have had to hire another person to put another shower, another 2500.00. Don't trust this man to do anything. His boss should have been checking on his work.

Understood the problem and challenge and was smartly creative. In 2 hrs he solved something that I had worked on for about 5 hours. Both times involved trips to the hardware stores. The price was right.

Had six projects which included carpentry, electrical, furniture repair, demolition and cable management. Jeff & Chris handled all projects capably. Both were friendly and helpful arriving on the job as scheduled.

He is better than most. He came back to fix minor problems in a timely manner.

I work for a company that manufactures custom RVs. I had a client that needed a few repairs, and contacted Jeff to arrange that. He took the job in spite of it being kind of unusual, he communicated well to make sure he had an accurate understanding of what was required, that he had proper tools and materials with him, confirmed the time and place directly with my client that was in his neighborhood. The scope of the job ended up being much more than we had anticipated once he had it apart, but he made it all happen, even through the work continued into a 2nd day. He sent pictures of the completed job as well as making sure my client on site was satisfied. He charged me a very fair rate for the work done. Highly recommended.

Knowledgeable and did a great job installing the overhead racks. Completed the racks in a timely fashion.

Always on time, had a light problem, he made it better than the original contractor. and other projects he did perfectly, even when matching paint that Home Depot didn't match and returned it and was so happy with them that they could match it perfectly while he waited at no extra cost to us. I will hire him again and again, neat and responsible.

He returned my calls, and showed up early!! Jeff hung 4 curtain rods and 1 kitchen blind for my newly-acquired home. He was very friendly and professional!

Jeff seems to be a very experienced person, who likes his job. He took down an old dining room light fixture and replaced it with a new one. I am very pleased with the job he did and I am sure that I'll be using his services again, in the near future.
