I would like to share with you my experiences with the contractor John Pucino. As far as I know, he also operates under the company names of Painting by Pucino, JDP Construction and J&D Construction. My experience with Mr. Pucino was far from pleasant. To make a very long and stressful story short, Mr. Pucino and his crew took 4 months on a job he stated would take 3 weeks. It remains unfinished. Whenever we confronted him regarding the delays or other issues, he became angry and defensive, often yelling, cursing, and blaming us for the state of the project. All of his work was done in a very unprofessional, untimely, and sloppy manner. At the end of this ordeal, despite a contract stating that he would smooth/repair and paint all walls, ceilings, doors, and closets, sand and refinish our hardwood flooring, and remodel our bathroom, we are left with an unfinished project and in possibly a worse position than when we started. We have poorly painted and bumpy walls, unpainted ceilings, baseboards which were damaged and dirtied by the crew, and a bathroom floor that is cracked, chipped, and coming apart. The wallpaper he put up is peeling, bubbling, and not properly spaced. The worst of all of Mr. Pucinoâ s offenses is that it is clear he never actually sanded the hardwood flooring and just put stain on top of an existing sealed floor. It looks like black paint. After he â completedâ the job, the stain began chipping off of the floor. You can scratch it off with your fingernail. Our suspicions were confirmed by several other flooring contractors who came to look at the project and whom we now have to pay to fix the mess Mr. Pucino left behind. After previous discussions with Mr. Pucino, he threatened to abandon the job so we left him alone to work. He had most of our money already and we didnâ t want to be left in the lurch. However, for the entire month of March 2019, he was only at our home 2 days. We called him to have a meeting about the lack of work and the state of the floors. He never showed up to that meeting. We scheduled another meeting and, when he did arrive, he was confrontational. He refused to fix the hardwood floors. After a long discussion, he agreed that he would have 2 weeks to complete the ill-performed painting and tile work in the home and would refund us for the estimated portion of the flooring project. He did not show up for the first week and at end of the allotted time, he cancelled our final walk-though appointment and blocked my phone number and email address. We have not received our refund and the home remains in disrepair. These are just the main events that occurred while he was working on our home. There are several other instances of lying and mistreatment of not only our home but ourselves personally. I believe he is a con-man who knows almost nothing about home renovations and is only out to take peopleâ s money and move on to the next job. I do not want to see this happen to anyone else.
