JDR Swimming Pools

I requested contractors from HomeAdvisor in October 2019 for my pool resurfacing project and got names of 4 contractors. Old World outdoor, Genesis pool, JDR pools and Williams pool and service. Williams pool and service never contacted me. Out of 3, The guy from Old World outdoor was very punctual with appointment time and came with a nice looking brochure. But JDR has 0.1 better review rating and $ 500 less in estimate so I went with JDR. I was excited when I saw many 5 stars in rating for JDR especially one that he came back and fixed it after the project was done but I did not have 5 star experience. Here is my personal overall rating. 1. Punctuality - 1 stars. Most of the time, don't know what time his crew will show up. My wife had to be available the whole day. 2. Timeliness of finishing the project - 5 star. Finished in the time frame he promised. 3. Quality of work - 3.5 star. Some areas of uneuqal color of plaster noted. The guy who did sealing of pool liner blew with the blower after the work and all the sand went into the pool and I had to clean all sands by myself. 4. Satisfaction of project - 1 star. I showed Rafael one spot where one big chunk of plaster fell off and several cracks in plaster before the project started. After the water was pumped out from the pool, he told me that most of my old plaster need to be removed and charged me extra $ 500. Felt like he tricked me into thinking less charges in the beginning. He knew that my old plaster was in bad shape and knew he need to remove most of old plaster. I had a leak in the pool at the junction of one skimmer and tile ( skimmer throttle) found by leak detection service guy before the replastering project and I told Rafael that and I was told that new plaster and tile should seal that. But after the project was done, it was still leaking and I called leak detection guy again. He told me that the same spot is still leaking although less than before and told me to call the contractor to fix it. They could do it for $ 275 but I already spent almost $ 9,000 and the contractor should be able to fix that. I called Rafael several times to come back and check it out but he kept saying coming in 2 days or next week and never show up. I gave up on him after 3 calls. $ 275 is not much but don't like the way I was treated as a customer. I can understand if he came back and check and told me that the leak was not from his work. He didn't even bother to come back and check. I regret not using Old World Outdoor for my project. I think if your project finished with no need for follow up, you can give better rating. If you need follow up work to be done, he will not be available. ( At least for me).

They were very quick and really tried to work within our budget. We now have them cleaning our pool monthly.

Did the job he promised and at a good price. We would recommend JDR pools to anyone. Rafael and his crew were friendly and professional. We had the pool remastered and the pool deck redone.

Rafael and his crew were great to work with. Had some rain issues but they dealt with it and did a great job. Would use them again to redo our spray deck in the future.

We had a complete remodel done, including tile, plaster and new concrete and spray deck. Rafael and his guys did an outstanding job. Rafael goes out of his way to make sure you're happy every step of the way. The guys worked quick and had the whole project done in half the time we were quoted by other contractors. The prices were right in line with everyone else, plus the warranties are even loner than standard. Can't recommend JDR highly enough. We love our new backyard!

I had a badly neglected pool on a rental property that needed repairs to the spa and pump system, along with a deep cleaning of the pool. Rafael and crew were a pleasure to work with. They were prompt, efficient and completed the required repairs quickly. The entire experience from initial contact until project completion went smoothly without a hitch. I most definitely will be calling them again in he future as needs arise. Highly recommended!

JDR provided a professional pool resurfacing for me. My pool is 14 years old and the original basic white plaster was pitting excessively making it difficult to keep the pool clean. JDR came out and gave me quote on the spot for various plaster options. In the end, I chose the exposed aggregate (StoneScapes Aqua Cool) surface with a 10 year warranty for the job. They also talked me through options with the various tile work. I decided to keep the existing waterline tiles as these were in good condition and I liked the color. I originally had small 1 inch tiles along the edge of the steps. JDR replaced these for a more modern look. We agreed on a date for the work to begin and the team arrived promptly. Day one was empty the pool and prepare the surface for the new plaster. Day 2, the new plaster was applied and that afternoon, the pool started filling again. With my water pressure, it took about 36 hours to fill our 25k gallon pool. Once filled, JDR came out and adjusted the attachment of the lights and added start-up chemicals. I'm very pleased with the results. The pool looks great and I haven't had any algae problems since the re-surfacing (I was battling algae daily with the old pitted surface). The JDR team were very professional and did a good job cleaning-up after themselves. I would happily recommend them.

JDR provided a quote on the spot, didn't have to wait a week or more like other bidders. Rafael was very creative and collaborative to help us design the remodel. He also pointed out that we had a problem with a check valve on our spa that the other bidders should have pointed out. He was present throughout the project and available whenever we needed to discuss details. He was not the least expensive bidder but his bid was fair and but we felt very comfortable that he would do the job right.

JDR provided a fixed cost estimate for the pool remodeling. Constantly suggested a few changes that would improve the look of the pool while staying within the budget. Even with needing to buy new equipment stayed within 10% of the estimate. Have a great looking modern pool to replace my 1973 pool.

He was extremely polite and he valued my opinion. We hired him for our monthly pool maintenance.

Rafael and his team were excellent. They fixed a couple of places where the old plaster was disrupted and completed the job in the estimated time. Looks very nice. The 4.5 stars is because the grout for the tile should have been a darker color instead of the one they used, which is a lot lighter than the tile. Small detail.
