JD Service Now - HVAC

Kenny Rogers was wonderful. He was professional and courteous. We needed estimate for HVAC service and he provided a detailed estimate. We decided to hire JD Service Now for adding two air returns in two rooms.

Josh, as a technician, was very professional and he is not at fault. They diagnosed my bad thermostat wire and charged me $195 for diagnosing without any work and many options. To fix the thermostat wire, I was quoted $935!! Also 2 pounds of R22, clean the blower unit, thermo wire and clean oxidized pipes for $2235! How is it there are such stellar ratings? I used google and found other estimates with a flat $100 diagnostic fee and there was quite a disparity between the work needed completed. To make matters worse, the sales department called me and said there are other options to replace the unit. I asked how often should ac units be replaced and the rep told me 8-12 years... I was furious and told Josh I would no longer do business with JD services. I am a home owner on a budget and this is just unacceptable. I think business become corporate machine needing to pay overhead and costs at the expense of people just trying to earn a living and surviving. Very few times in life have I felt taken advantage of and this was definitely one of them. Choose wisely because there are many more options out there.

My furnace was not staying on. The tech said it could be the inductor fan and the cost is 1100 and I was shocked, but he said thats the price even though changing it is a five-minute job. I looked it up and the actual price was 150 to 200. I could not find a $1100 fan. He said it could be the valve and thats a $850 part. You guessed it...the same brand and part number was $75. He said it could be the tiny inconsequential hole in the sealant behind the inductor fan, but there is no way that gap could be the problem. I sealed it with RTV and that solved the vacuum leak. The total quote for the parts was 3500. I could have changed those parts plus the vacuum switch for 10% and they recommended I buy a new unit at 8500 to 12k. When they contacted me to send a rep to sell me a new one I asked why the parts were marked up so high. She said the fan for the furnace was expensive because they have to evacuate the freon and recharge it! Seriously, the refrigerant in a heater? Nope. I asked if they had a customer that was an elderly grandma on a fixed income if they would do the same thing to them.... silence. I am saying here that JD is unethical, but its probably an industry-wide problem and I wish I could recommend a good one. I am sure that the company will go on some rant saying no way I found those parts that cheap or they are some counterfeit parts as if counterfeit furnace parts are a big market. When I post this in as many places I can on the web where I can post pics of the estimate and the parts I found, you will see what I am saying is accurate. When you read their response, keep in mind that I am bringing in to question how much money they make by ordering a part. I would probably try to dispute that too. Good luck and stay warm. I am nice and toasty for about 50 cents worth of RTV.

Goof

I had multiple problems with my heating and A/C resulting from previous substandard work. These guys identified the root of the problem and fixed the cause, not just the latest symptom. I had just spent over $700 getting rework done that fixed the symptoms but not the causes. These guys are not the cheapest but, in my case, I have no doubt that they saved me hundreds in rework in just their first visit. These guys are good communicators. I know enough now, thanks to their careful explanations, to avoid or fix problems in the future.

They did a good job.

They were responsive to what I wanted done. There was some miscommunication between sales and installation departments, but when I brought the resulting matter to their attention the issue was immediately corrected. My project was not a repair but an installation of a new dehumidifier in the lower level of my house. The new unit is working much better than the one it replaced and it is the same brand and size.

The JD Service Now team was very professional in both setting up my appointment as well as checking my HVAC unit. The technician was on time and throughly inspected my unit, informing me of certain aspect it as well recommended seasonal and yearly maintenance requirements of my unit.

The service technicians for JD Service Now are very friendly and professional. First crew ever that I did not have to clean up after they were here. We had our HVAC replaced and the experience from start to finish was pleasant, and all of our concerns were addressed. We did not seek out multiple quotes, but according to a couple folks we could have saved money elsewhere. Still, I have been burned by "cheap" AC guys in the past, so I have no regrets.

My call for AC repair was answered immediately, and within 45 minutes a specialist arrived to assess my failing AC units. I am disabled and air conditioning is a MEDICAL NECESSITY for me. Highly impressed with the work and extra efforts to get my system running especially during a holiday week. Dante C. was exceptional & his expertise solved my AC issues, where others failed. I will use this company again for future work. Not the cheapest, but a great value and I now have peace of mind for future HVAC & plumbing issues 24/7. PRICELESS.
