The project was repairing a water damaged wall, reinstalling electric outlets and painting. The project started out OK but when it came to finishing, the paint job was poorly done and the outlets were not reinstalled properly. They were crooked, and not flush to the wall. The covers would not fit and it looked terrible. In addition, the hole he cut to place one outlet was too large and a standard wall plate did not cover it, so there was an evident hole in the wall outside the wall plate. I had to go out and find a jumbo wall plate to cover it, and since there were three outlets on that wall, all three had to have new wall plates. The quality of the paint job was poor. To me, the quality of a job is measured by attention to details. There were places around the trim where the old paint was still visible, and in other areas there was overlap on the woodwork. Other than the quality of the paint job, my first mistake was not asking Joel for a quote on the painting. I never would have paid what he was asking. Based on my experience in having that room painted by other professionals, what he charged was overpriced, especially since the quality was so low. I also made the mistake of paying for the job without checking for quality first. I contacted Joel to try to negotiate compensation to apply to other projects but he never responded to me. Very disappointing. I had to hire another person to fix all the deficiencies. Joel is a really nice guy, and I actually believe he can do good work, but he let me down at the end when the final detail work is so important.

Came out to reverse hinges a storm door. Did an OK job. Added an unnecessary dime size hole underneath the hardware of the handle and door doesn t open smoothly as before. Door gets stuck when trying to open as it appears door not properly leveled. I would say this handy man is not proficient in Andersen storm doors installs. JEM had a quick response time to my request.
