I like what I got but I think it was a bit pricey

Chris was great to work with. He provided helpful information on our deck makeover project with a 4 foot extension, new decking and railings, and adding a pergola. His price estimate was reasonable for the work performed. He arrived as planned to do the work and cleaned up the work area well before leaving for the day. Chris pays great attention to detail in his work and it shows as we now have a beautiful new deck and pergola to enjoy. We already have several inquiries from our neighbors about the work that Chris performed. I would recommend JL Woodscapes to anyone who is looking for a great, honest contractor for your deck or pergola project.

Chris is one of the best small business owners I have had the pleasure to work with. The pergola that we had built was both oversized and two tiered. Very responsive. Let me know in advanced he would not be there because of the rain, left no messes and more importantly, delivered more that what my wife and i asked for. He took our vision and turned it in to part of our backyard oasis that the we will get to enjoy with the kids and grandkids for years to come. Awesome job Chris.

He does quality work and very nice guy but he doesn't follow what we asked for and he does what he thinks it should look. we had to ask him to redo re do things several times.

Chris Sides is the owner and installer of the contracted work. This ensures the client that you are getting top quality work as it is done by Chris himself and not by another employee to subcontractor. Chris installed our cedar pergola in 2 1/2 days. His quote was also the lowest among 6 quotes we got. The downside to his quote in end March was that his earliest opening to do our pergola was in July. I passed on his quote and moved on. After receiving other quotes however, I realized that not only was his quote was the lowest, he also temized far more materials to be used than any of the quotes I got. Still even though I wanted to award the job to Chris, July was not going to work for us. After a few more emails exchanged with Chris, he offered a compromise. If he can skip the staining of the pergola, he could squeeze us in the following week. I jumped at the chance. Great decision. While I am now looking at triple the cost of staining (another contractor) to Chris quote of $200, he built us an awesome pergola and was a delight to converse with. His quote included one pull down shade. I loved the shade so much, I asked him to bring two more. He charged us the cost and installed the two new ones without additional charge. My husband and I strongly recommend JL Woodscapes. You won't regret the way Chris works and the quality you get when your project is done.

I am detailed oriented. Normally if you know what you want and want it done right...you do it yourself. However, Chris with J.L. Woodscapes did an AMAZING job on my Pergola! His skill and attention to every little detail is excellent. You can tell he truly enjoys his work and has a right to be proud of his art! The cost was not at all overpriced! My Patio is 10 x 21, the Pergola covers the entire space. I couldn't believe he only took about 3 days from start to finish (including a bit of slow down for rain). The Quality is Above and Beyond! I am so happy with my new Pergola! I will recommend him to anyone who is thinking of adding value to their home.

We are so pleased with the pergola Chris installed, we are looking for other projects for him. Chris could not have been more professional, reliable, and responsive. We had a unique pergola need (24'x20') and wanted one beam to span 24' with no support posts besides the 2 ends. Of the 5 contractors we interviewed (some were well known companies that you see at the home show), Chris was the only one who knew exactly how to accomplish our design. It turned out exactly how Chris described it and we just couldn't be more pleased. The project was under budget and on time. It's one of those experiences that you want to share. Very rare these days.

Chris was fantastic. He worked me into his very busy schedule and was a sweetheart to boot. My hammock pergola was done within a day and I simply had to wait for the cement to set. The idea came from (of course) Pinterest, so all he had to work off of was a picture, and it was captured perfectly. He also has been available for any questions I had about staining the wood, and will be making shelves in my garage come fall. One of the best people I have ever hired.
