Write a ReviewRepaired front porch overhang support did a fantastic job
I never contacted JSS. They got my information for another site that was tied to Angi and HomeAdvisor. I decided to at least get an estimate for a driveway installation. The estimate was within the price range as a few others. I decided to go with them based on the Google reviews. I had two bids done. One for a driveway, one for a concrete deck in my backyard. Once I paid $4211 down, I had to contact them 3 weeks later to get an ETA. They said they would be out in a couple of days. The project got delayed before they started due to a hurricane approaching. I didn't hear from JSS. I, again, had to call them. I was told flat out that the larger jobs (more money) were their priority. I waited a couple more weeks and contacted them again. They finally had me on their schedule. They had my $4211 for 9 weeks before starting my project. The workers were great. The driveway turned out pretty good. However, 2 hours after the driveway was complete and workers were gone, the City Code Enforcement was BANGING on my door. JSS never pulled a permit. I contacted JSS that night via email. I called the following morning and left a message. I finally got a call back late morning. The lady, Keeli, said she that I wssn't "quoted" for a permit as it wasn't needed. So she contacted the City. Long story short, a permit was needed. About 3 weeks later, the "After The Fact" permit was approved. Looking over my quote and final bill, they were charging me nearly $500 for Bobcat usage and $281 for the permit.. They never used a Bobcat. When I emailed my concerns, I was told they couldn't use the Bobcat due to me living so close to a busy road. That was false as my neighbor had his driveway installed last year. And that they had to use "man labor" and that would cost more. The permit fee was another concern. They just wanted to remind me of the "$600 discount" they gave me. Had they not put that in their quote, I would not have hired them. They would have priced themselves out of the project. I let them know as well that I had concrete splattered on my walls and garage door. I just had my house painted 2 years prior. I never complained about it, but since they were wanting to charge me for Bobcat that was never used and requiring me to pay $281 for a permit that JSS neglected to get, I decided to let them know and had pictures for proof. They came back and only took off the permit fee. I was already talking to my lawyer and it just wasn't worth the time and energy to fight this out in court over $500. Although the workmanship was fairly good, JSS seems to want to add on frivolous chages to make up for their "discounts". And lack of communication is ridiculous.
YOUR WORDS "Keeli, I will keep the business with you. If it gets pushed out again (NOTE DUE TO A HURRICANE), I will require and refund (WE OFFERED A REFUND IF YOU WERE NOT HAPPY). I do not want to come off as nasty as that is not my intention. I am just frustrated at the lack of communication. As for you personally, you always get back to me quickly. In no way is the frustration with you. Please accept my apology if you feel/felt that in any way. Thank you, Shane" AS TOLD WHEN YOU PAID THE DEPOSIT WE ARE 2-4 OR 4-6 WEEKS OUT. I DO NOT REMEMBER WHICH BUT EITHER WAY 3 WEEKS WOULD HAVE BEEN BEFORE BOTH. WE DID NOT CHARGE YOU MORE SO THAT PART IS A LIE WE SAID THE MANUAL LABOR WOULD HAVE COST MORE (THIS WAS REQUIRED PLEASE CALL THE CITY) BUT WE LEFT THE BOBCAT FEE THAT WAS ORIGINALLY ON YOUR ESTIMATE VS CHARGING MORE. WE ATE THAT FEE. NO MATTER WHO YOU WENT WITH YOU WOULD HAVE HAD TO GET A PERMIT, AND FAIR PRICES AND DISCOUNTS WERE GIVEN. I UPDATED YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY AS WELL. AND WE TOOK CARE OF ANY QUESTIONS/CONCERNS YOU HAD PLUS TOOK OFF ADDITIONAL MONEY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR FEEDBACK THOUGH! :)
Completed the work as promised.
They did an okay job but their communication is not great. I honestly only went with them because due to COVID I had a hard time getting contractors to give me other quotes. They just showed up whenever they wanted to measure and lay the concrete. Use another company to pour the cement (at 7 am, my neighbors were not with me) and did not communicate with them properly so I was incredibly confused. They had no trouble calling to check on the final payment though.
Prompt and immaculate... little to no issues.
They were conscientious, thorough, and professional. Most of all there pricing was fair after they spent many extra hours cutting through roots.
The entire team was outstanding. They were customer oriented, responsive, efficient, careful, and the quality of their work was very high. I give them the highest recommendation.
