Hired to install shower wall grab bars. I specifically asked via text "I want to verify that you are installing these directly to studs and not just using drywall anchors. " His response "Yes studs". After hearing them drilling through bathroom wall tile I decide to check their progress. NONE of the 6 screw holes were at studs. I asked I thought we were going to attach to studs. He said the drywall anchors are just as strong. I fired him on the spot. It took me less than a minute to find my stud finder and level in the garage, go above the tile, find a stud, and mark a line down to the tile. J&S didn't take 30 sec to attempt to find a stud. They thought they'd use drywall anchors without the owner finding out. Drywall anchors may be fine but I specifically asked and told him what I wanted. Totally dishonest handyman. I had to find 3 year old replacement tile and have someone fix J&S' dishonest attempt.

Jimmy did a lot of different jobs inside and out. Work was good in the beginning. Paid him in cash. Fronted $ for various jobs to get him on his feet with a loan to get his truck out of the shop. Tax returns with my CPA . After months to finish floors in both bedrooms discovered jewelry missing, out of both bedrooms when he had one of his gf's helping. Paid $4-5000 cash over time. Try to cover up the thief. Did not discover right away. Jimmy you lost my trust taking some sentimental items!

Most of the tiles are uneven and we are waiting on the contractor to correct the issue but he is not responding our calls or texts we sent recently.

I hired j&s property maintenance and repair to install my microwave, dishwasher, kitchen sink, and counter tops. The microwave was not leveled. He ripped up my backsplash. The dishwasher wasn't installed properly. There were dents on it as well. He came back on September 23, he came in and put laminate countertops in my kitchen. It took him 8 hours to do it. He dropped my countertop on my cement and smashed it. I got a damaged countertop, he cut it, and it was short. He broke the latch on my storm door. He did not offer to replace it. He didn't pay for it. He tried to charge me $800 for the countertops. He came down for $650, and he charged me for the supplies. He didn't leave the supplies. He took it with him. On the first week of October, he said he was free and had no jobs to do. He told me to call him if I was ready to put the counter in my bathroom because he said he had already ordered it. I texted him, but he was not responding. He came on October 6, and he said he would send me all the receipts, but I never received those. I asked him five times for the receipts. He texted me that he was sick. Friday, at about 8:05, and the day before, he said that he was up all night. I told him that if he had been up all night, he should have told me that he couldn't go. He went into my bathroom. He damaged my marble. He damaged $300 of marble and $200 of laminate. He also flooded my bathroom. The marble wasn't fitted properly. When he put the faucet on, he sanded the marble. The water faucet wasn't matching up. When he installed the pipes, instead of going up and down, they went sideways. He blamed the things that happened to those people who worked prior. He damaged my brand-new carpet and flooded to my bedroom.

Normally, I do not do reviews if they are negative, but I took the time to think about this. I thought two or three times before hiring Jimmie due to his responses to the negative reviews. It did not look like he took responsibility for anything. But I went against my better judgment and the number of positive reviews and hired him. Also, he is on Home Advisor. So, I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt just in case the negative reviews were not warranted. I hired Jimmie for handyman services beginning on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, for a new gate (posts and lock), expand concrete slab, repair closet rack, weatherstrip front, and back screen door, replace lights in ceiling fans, front and patio porch, concrete under the gate, redo grout in the bathroom, pressure wash, and some other things. I had things arranged in order of importance to me, but when Jimmie arrived he said he was prepared to do the pressure wash, the bathroom grout, and front door weatherstrip. They would complete the rest of the work next week, on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 (because they already had prior jobs). The following Wednesday I texted Jimmie to see what time he was coming. He texted back saying that he was as sick as a dog and could not even get up out of the bed. I told him I was sorry to hear that he was sick, but let me know when he felt better and could complete the work. Jimmies response back was Uggg, and I never heard from him again. As far as his work, his son in law (or future son in law) did the grout work in the bathroom. The bathroom looked great, but the grout mix was left on my bathroom floor. (I still cannot get it up), my rugs, and in my bathtub. I wished they had cleaned up afterward. I do not know whether Jimmie just chose to do the things he knew how to do, or the easiest to do knowing he was not coming back. The pressure wash was done good, he just left several large empty containers of Clorox bottles. Overall the pressure wash was good, and the grout work in the bathroom shower was good. But the clean up in the bathroom was a big disappointment as well as will be an expense. Because so far, I have not been able to get the grout paste off the floor. My other big issue with Jimmie was that he lied. He set a date to come back and complete the job and he never showed up or texted me. I would have never known Jimmie was sick if I had not texted him at 8:15 am (Wednesday, 11/11/20) to see what time he was coming. All Jimmie had to do was say, he did not or could not complete the job. Home Advisor needs to do a better job at following up with their contractors if they still want customers to use their services.

We hired Jimmy to assemble an elliptical stepper. He kept us posted as to the time he would arrive. He was actually able to get to our job earlier than planned, which was great! He worked quietly yet steadily. After the stepper was assembled, he tried it out for me. I had read reviews about this stepper having a “squeaky noise”. Jimmy gave it a test run and assured me that everything was bolted nice and tight. He was pleasant, courteous, and knowledgeable. I plan to call him in the future for any other jobs we may have around our home. God bless you Jimmy!
