"This review was not submitted by a client of J. Wright Building Company. The reviewer is a real estate agent who was not a party to the construction contract and had no direct involvement in the building process. Notably, this home was completed more than two years prior to this review being posted. The claims regarding unpaid bills and suppliers refusing to ship materials are false and did not occur on this project. All punch list and warranty items falling within the Residential Construction Performance Guidelines were properly addressed. This project involved 69 requested change orders, of which 48 were approved and executed. Like many projects during this period, certain materials experienced significant lead times ? windows alone required more than five months for delivery ? which impacted the project schedule. The claims regarding liens and financial instability are false and inflammatory. J. Wright Building Company has successfully completed custom homes in the Birmingham area for over 10 years. We are confident this review does not reflect the experience of our actual clients, and we believe the motivation behind it will be apparent to anyone who looks further into the matter."
"We take all client feedback seriously and are committed to transparency. However, this review contains a number of significant inaccuracies that we feel compelled to address professionally. This project involved a custom home with a finished basement on a challenging site. The timeline was significantly extended by factors outside our control, including lengthy Architectural Review Committee (ARC) approval delays required by the homeowner's subdivision ? delays that are well-documented and were communicated to the owners throughout the project. The scope also expanded substantially through 40+ owner-directed change orders, each of which affected both schedule and cost. Regarding cabinet and countertop vendors: the cabinets and countertops were selected, specified, and installed by the original vendors chosen during the design process. The suggestion that suppliers were changed due to unpaid bills is simply not accurate. Regarding flooring: the owners elected to change their flooring selections from the original specifications. Multiple vendors were engaged at the owners'; direction to price the new selections, a final selection was made, and the revised cost was formally approved by the owners through a signed change order before any work proceeded. Regarding cost overages: prior to contract execution, the owners specifically requested that multiple allowance values be reduced in order to lower the contract price. When actual costs exceeded those reduced allowances ? as is common when allowances are intentionally set below market ? the difference is reflected as an overage per the contract terms. Every change order on this project was presented in writing and approved by the owners before work proceeded. The contract was terminated by the owners unilaterally and without the required contractual notice, at a time when significant work remained in progress. We strongly dispute the characterization of our workmanship and stand fully behind our license record and the quality of our work across more than 10 years of custom homebuilding in the Birmingham area. We also feel it is important for prospective clients to know the context in which this review was posted. Prior to its publication, written demands were made of our company that fell outside the terms of the contract. When we declined to comply with those demands, this review followed. We believe that context speaks for itself. This matter is currently in active legal proceedings. We are confident we will prevail in those proceedings."
"We take warranty obligations seriously and have a defined process for addressing all post-closing items. At the time of this review, we were actively working through punch list and warranty items as timely as practical. Throughout the warranty period, every item identified as a latent defect under the terms of the warranty was addressed. The missing pool equipment referenced was installed promptly upon being made aware of it. Regarding the vendor payment referenced: the vendor selected by the homeowner was paid in full at the time of this review. The delay in payment was solely the result of the vendor's failure to provide the information necessary to process payment ? not negligence or inability to pay on our part. Despite our efforts to engage, the client did not follow up on this review. J. Wright Building Company has built custom homes in the Birmingham area for over 10 years. We stand behind our work and our warranty commitments."
