I reached out to James trying to find a good time to schedule the survey. He kept telling me that he would reach out to me on certain days to schedule a survey. Not one of those days did he contact me I always had to contact him and was told oh I?ll put you on the schedule this day and I?ll let you know . Not once did he reach out to me I had to keep reaching out to him. It felt like even tho I explained to him I was under a certain time frame to get the survey , there was no need to keep me in the loop at all . If I could have found another survey company to do the job I would have. End result decent price , horrible communication.
Response from James D. McAuley
"We received the job on 10/26 and told client it would be ready in two weeks which was Nov 9th. Field work was completed on the 13th and the map was completed on the 17th. I do agree that we need to work on communication. Scheduling is an area that we will continue to improve also. James"

Not only was our perimeter clearly marked, but he walked it with us to explain the direction changes and was careful to show us all the pins. He was friendly and engaging and did a terrific job.

He did the actual survey quickly but took nearly 2 months to provide report. Taking into account the COVID-19 environment, he was not very communicative about what was going on. He was apologetic but repeatedly missed deadlines.

After checking with several other companies I decided to go with this one. I emailed them and arranged to have a surveyor come out to mark my property line, so I could install a privacy fence. The surveyor arrived promptly on 14 November 2019 and marked all the property lines/corner pins. Within a couple of days my neighbor had tossed the stakes over the existing fence because it turns out her fence was actually on my property. The police were called, and she was informed of the situation, but she decided she wanted her own survey done, so I waited for her to do so. In the meantime I was not billed by Mr. McAuley nor did I receive any further communication from him. I have hired a fence installer, but they will not do the job until they have a map of the property lines because of my neighbors behavior. On 24 March 2020, having allowed plenty of time for my neighbor to get her own survey done, I finally said enough and contacted Mr. McAauley to get a copy of the map and my invoice. He emailed that he would get one to me straight away. It is now Easter weekend and I am still waiting.

Do not use this company. Once you pay them they ghost you and do not provide the service you pay for.

An overall disappointment, with emphasis on poor communication. They are prompt only when their dollar is on the line. The low price is not worth all the time wasted on follow-up. It was difficult to get in touch with them, but after that they were quick and helpful in getting me a price quote. Once awarded the job, they fit me promptly into their schedule. Every step after that was an exercise in patience. 1)The team did not come the day I was told to expect them. I was not informed of the change. No one answered any of my follow-up calls or emails throughout the day. 2) The team came a different day, again without communication. I only knew when I arrived home and saw stakes on the lawn. Since I was not present, I was not able to receive a walkthrough and explanation of the property lines. An additional trip out for that costs $100. 3) By the time I got home, FIVE of the EIGHT stakes had fallen, and the back half of the property had not been staked at all, though there was some litter left behind. 4) I called the office and was told a team would be sent to fix the stakes and a surveyor would be in touch to answer my questions. Stacy was very polite and apologetic, though she also did not seem sure what had happened. Though the stakes were fixed, over a week later I still had not heard back from a surveyor. 5) I got the invoice at noon the day it was due and a past-due notice the day after. I had still not spoken to or seen a surveyor at any point. 6) I finally got in touch with the office manager. I was mostly unbothered about the whole thing until I talked to her, but she was incredibly unpleasant to speak with. She was impatient, short, and downright rude. She did put me in touch with their Field Crew Chief. He was friendly and did his best to answer my questions about some ribbons placed on my neighbor s property, but I am not sure he knew what I was talking about. I do not think he had ever been to the property. I got another invoice less than an hour later. Since the whole process had been a mess, I asked for a discount on the job. ONLY THEN could they be bothered to tell me that the no-show appointment and the confusingly half-done job had been canceled due to rain. The rude office manager informed me that I had been notified of this fact, but there was nothing in my call logs, texts, or emails. I said so, and she said they would look through their records and get back to me. Her final response lacked any further mention --much less proof-- of communication about rain. It simply said that she was certain her team had followed protocol and that she would *not waste any more time discussing a non-issue.* She reminded me --again-- about the outstanding invoice. Bad weather? I get it. Schedule changes? It happens. But any company that considers customer service a *waste of time* or thinks that failing to show up to appointments or communicate with clients is a --non-issue--; Unacceptable. I was patient and polite for free. The least they could do is scrounge up some courtesy (that the are getting paid for!) when I am the one who wasted hours of my time trying to get them to pick up the phone. And? The map that I paid hundreds of dollars for? It had mistakes. If you are looking for a surveyor, keep looking. James McAuley clearly has more business than he can keep up with.

I contacted James to do a survey on my house he was paid to come and do his job and he ended up only doing half the job. I tried to get in contact with him but he will not answer calls, text messages, emails nothing. I have even gone to the addresses listed on the page and they aren’t his. One is a ups store. If someone knows this man let me know how to get in contact with him. Thank you
