James W. Lyon General Contracting

We had just completed re-building our staircase and installing wood floors and everything was fine except we did not have a stair-rail which was kinda spooky as the family was coming for the holidays with small children. We interviewed 4 contractors over 4 weeks and could not find anyone who could meet our schedule and budget much less demonstrate the necessary skill to complete the job. Then we found Jim. When we interviewed it was clear from his questions that he had indeed built a stair rail, and his estimate/availability met our criteria so we hired him and within two weeks the task was complete. Jim was very meticulous and worked in harmony with his finish carpenter Aaron which was crucial as our stairs were custom-built. Forget about measuring twice and cutting once, Jim and Aaron measured 10 times to make absolutely sure that everything came together as desired. We will consider Jim for other projects we have in the queue as any project goes smoother if the vibe is right!

Jim & Aaron were the best. I have worked with real estate for 35 years & a multitude of contractors. Jim visited with us on site & then devised a plan, got city permit, finished the beautiful deck addition day by day as they communicated when supplies would arrive. Each day was Pure progress & even with snow on the ground they kept up to finish as planned. All credit for an amazing job done! We will share more remodel with these Special, caring helpers.

James was great. Very professional and courteous and his craftsmanship was outstanding.

Easy to communicate with, they arrived on time, did a high quality job installing my baseboard and charged a reasonable price. Excellent experience all around.

Jim completed a fairly complicated remodel for me which included completing architectural and structural design work plus jumping through numerous hoops presented to us by the city for permitting (different than the usual process). Through the entire frustrating process he remained positive and did a great job of adjusting for delays that were well out of his control. He is very knowledgeable, fair, flexible and creative. He will think “outside the box” to come up with new solutions to problems that a lot of other contractors are prone not to do. He is detail oriented and takes pride in his work. He will do everything he can (within reason) to make sure the job is done to the client’s complete satisfaction, even when the client is extremely picky. Not only is he a good contractor, he is a good person and I genuinely enjoyed working with him.

Very capable in many areas of repair

I highly recommend Jim. He did a beautiful job of constructing a new railing around an existing deck. He is a very skilled carpenter and also a creative problem solver. l have received many compliments on the new railing (which is at the front of my home) and am certain that the value of my home is now significantly increased due the the beautiful workmanship.

Jim was great!

Incredibly responsive!

He did a great job and I would recommend him to anyone

Jim was great and very responsive. Never felt weird about leaving him to get the work done himself at the house. He did amazing wood work as well, was very impressed with the end result.

Excellent timely service, great quality, very knowledgeable.
