Pre-Made Cabinets - Install
$290,000
Owner took 50% deposit from me and proceeded to become less than responsive (for 2 months) until I finally solicited intervention from HomeAdvisors. Even as HomeAdvisors stepped in to mediate between me and the contractor, the contractor would remove HomeAdvisors from email communications and proceed to send me accusatory, irate, and self-contradictory emails (I've kept copies of some 80+ emails as proof of my experience with this). After several more weeks of failed communication and inadequate service from the contractor, I finally became my own advocate and basically acted as sub-contractor with the cabinet supplier and the stone provider to complete the job. I had to arrange for template and installation of new countertop, removal of old countertop, and I had to leave 2 workers in my home while I ran out to Home Depot to purchase the cabinet trash bin insert which was outlined in my contract but was not included in the installed cabinet (because I feared if I let them leave without finishing the job, it would be months before I could finally get the contractor to have them return to finish it). One cabinet was broken in 3 places and the toe kick was unfinished and glued so poorly it never adhered. This experience was nothing short of a nightmare which woke me with anxiety attacks so many nights from May through August. My personal experience with this contractor had so many more horrors which I cannot fit in this review. However, I have saved emails, texts, and phone messages documenting the whole ordeal. I am happy to share them with anyone who might be curious to hear how it went down. I suppose he has been good to his word with other customers. However, my personal experience, perhaps because I am a newly-widowed woman, was such a horrific one I will never hire an independent contractor again. It has left me with no options other than to employ well-established, corporate service providers, who have physical places of business/buildings/offices/employees where and with whom you can communicate, should a glitch arise. Bottom line, it took 105 days to install -- on a blank wall -- 3 overhead cabinets and 2 floor cabinets (which are stock items at Home Depot), and one 72"x26" piece of quartz with no required cuts or inserts. Also, on the day the job was finally complete I (unsolicitedly) emailed Frank and asked for an invoice so I could pay him; his email response was "Why this need for an invoice?"

$17,000
They lied about what they were going to do. We signed a contract. We read it. Steven took the contract a away to get a copy after we sign and he promises to return it that day. He did not. They were to do a stone wall, fence & a complete driveway. I gave them two payment. Last payment were due when finish. Frank did come back and finish the fence and the wall. I had to get someone else to do the driveway. They never finish. We could not get in touch with either party the company is a u-haul comp .this company does not have a crew ,different people with no experience of the job. In spite of the experience we had I would recommend you work strictly with Frank, the owner. I was very happy with Frank and Joe, the crew member.

Drywall - Install
I hired Frank to do an addition that should have been finished over 2 months ago. He just left for a 1 month vacation, without plans to complete my project. I had my lawyer look him up.....He also fired all his employees except the secretary before leaving for vacation last week, owing then all 2 weeks pay and has left subcontractors in charge to carry on his business. This man also has a civil warrant out, for a court date on July 10th, which he does not plan to attend, because he will be on vacation. He also has many more judgments out against this and other businesses. I have been unable to reach him in the past 5 weeks, and now he is demanding a $10,000 payment that was already made back in April. He also has not paid any of the subcontractors that worked on my home. They are all calling and asking why I wont pay Frank so that he can pay them. Please see below a few of the mistakes that he has made so far: • Windows are the wrong size- He made us wait 2 months for windows that were not even correct. He then proceeded to install them without even consulting us • Siding is the wrong color-Upon his request, we told him that we would like the new siding to match the existing house, but again he went ahead and installed the wrong thing without consulting us • R19/R38 insulation instead of R21/R49 as listed on plans. Also no insulation was installed in crawl space as per plans • Outdoor rear stairs not covered as per plans. He also made errors with the foundation, the deck, the firewall and much more. Also for the first week of the project he was distributing the wrong set of plans to the subcontractors, which caused a considerable amount of delay. I am now forced to hire someone else to complete the project, and since I paid him most of the money already, I will have to pay for all the unfinished items again. This man is very smooth and can come up with an excuse/lie without thinking......be careful

Wood Stairs and Railings - Install or Replace
Yes, I recommend this pro
the contractors that perform the work are pros, and so worth dealing with, inspite of the polite, lack of communicative skills regarding time lines manager. If it wasn't for one of the owners(Senior) and the contractors. This review would have been different. Over all so worth hiring, they do Great work that is undeniable.

Bathroom - Remodel
They wouldn't show up, failed to answer emails, did not complete the job by end of contract date. Failed to finish or answer us even after we gave them an addl week, project not finished. I don't understand how ourmexperience could have been so bad after all these good reviews, which is why we hired them.

Just be sure Frank comes to the job and starts the workers and then checks in every day. The workers I had were eager to please and once they understood the job did good work.

The painters were very good. There was one area on the wallpaper that I was not happy with. Frank agreed and had it redone with no problems. Frank was very agreeable and scheduled the work around our vacation. Would definitely use him again
