Jim Conrad Electric

A little yricky to coordinate times (we live in Shingletown), but once scheduled, all went well. Nice and quick installation. Appreciate the craftsmanship.

Jim called me right away, but when he came, and gave me the bid, he told me one price, and when the work was done, it was a totally different price. He uses more than one electrician, in which he quoted me a price for one, and two were sent. The apprentice he used, fell through the ceiling. He charged me for the time the apprentice used to fix the ceiling (in which he did a poor job) and had to send a handyman to fix it after the fact which took 3 extra days. He didn?t charge for the handyman, but he did act like he was doing me a favor, by paying for him, and he charged me for the home advisor fee, which I don?t think I should pay, after all it?s his lead for his business. All of this should have been discussed beforehand, and been in a contract, which he didn?t have. I would never recommend Jim Conrad Electric for anything. He wasn?t honest or forthcoming with all of the charges before he did the work. Oh, and he doesn?t do the work, he has people who work under his license, which is ok, I just think it should all be discussed beforehand. Needless to say the job was 2x?s more than what he bid it to be, and the wiring he did to put in the extra 4 canned lights burned and smoked and almost caught on fire, we had to hire someone else to rewrite it. There was too much voltage going to the outlet, which is something I think a first year electrician should know. I obviously did not have a good experience with this company.

first, i made an appointment for Jim to come to my home, as it seemed like i had a whole wall of electrical not working. I called early on the appointment day to confirm that he had my exact address (which he did not) and he said i had cancelled my appointment. i had NOT cancelled my appointment. At that time he said he would NOT be able to keep the appointment (i have waited several days in 100 degree heat without air). on the day after the original appointment, he came out at 11:30am (he was in a hurry as he said he was doing another job).. well, after 20 minutes, he said he had to hurry, as he came a long way from his other job to do the work at my house (which was only to flip the circuit breaker). I had a couple of other things to ask about electrical, and he said he had to leave (like he was doing me a favor). I paid him $80 for one hour, but he did NOT STAY ONE HOUR.. and left before i could ask him anything else. not the best experience, and i would not call him again, as i feel he owes me 1/2 of already paid for 'work'. who does that? on a side note.. there were some other issues with the swamp cooler on the roof, but he couldn't figure out how to get on the roof. he wanted me to get him a ladder, as he was driving a little car with no visible tools or equipment. since i didn't have the 6 foot ladder he needed, i was willing to go borrow one. he decided not to help me further and left after 30 minutes (10 minutes of arguing with me about stuff he couldn't do). i had an appointment. i paid for one hour of work ($80). i did not get one hour of work. unprofessional and rude.

Jim Conrad came to fix a garage light fixture. He is an expert in knowledge and service. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for expertise, friendly service at a reasonable price.

Did the wiring I asked for. Fixed a problem I was unaware of. 2 ceiling fans installed, I helped, they work. Need to select the 3rd fan, some other week, the ceiling is ready and I can do the rest myself. Quick job, done the right way.
