"Old Pella door. French doors (both operate). This room was an addition to the home several years after original construction. My conclusion is that the room where they attached addition wall to house (same wall door is on and wall is only inches to the door) is pulling away from the house slightly, evident by the crack in the drywall at the corner where new wall is attached to house (crack wider at top of wall then at the floor) due to settling and the elements most likely. I do question how they attached the framed new wall to the existing house at time of construction, but can not see thru drywall so I am not sure. This is causing the door to go crooked/sag down. Threshold would not adjust at all. All screws were stripped out from possibly someone previously adjusting. Door did operate a little better than when I arrived, but not to my satisfaction at all. I discounted my price for the homeowner by over 50% after putting a total of over 2 hours into it. Pretty much to cover my trip to Lowe's and Home Advisor's fee. After I started working on door homeowner advised she called Pella for a repairman. I wish she would have informed me of this before I started, I admit I would not have done anything and let Pella handle it due to age of door. First time I could not get a door adjusted the way I wanted in 45 years. Homeowner was a very nice lady. I hated leaving without the door working perfectly. I did not want to risk breaking threshold but if Pella can get threshold to adjust down approximately 1/8" at the strike side, door would open and close much easier. However if wall continues to pull away the same thing possibly may happen again in time."
