Don't use this company. Took well over a month for our install... he wouldn't answer our calls or show up for appt. He apologized and said there had been a family issue. We purchased an extended warranty that doesn't help since he no longer returns calls. DO NOT HIRE!!!

Do not deal with this company or the owner!! John Greenwood is unethical.

After 1.5 years, cannot contact for service. Phone number provided on receipt is bad. It appears that they are no longer in business and I am left holding the bag for using HomeAdvisor as a source for contract and repair work.

I bought a new Goodman Heating/Air conditioning system from John @ Northstar Heating and Cooling 3/17/15. At first, John was very personable and installed system OK. I had a few issues with gas leak, which he eventually took care of after several calls. He installed 4 plastic leg risers, upon initial install, below heat pump, that are now cracking and breaking up and need to be replaced. I started calling John a month ago and not returning my calls. Finally reached him 8/15/16 and explained problem. Said he'd be out the next day to fix leg/riser issue. I rescheduled my day to be home. He never showed up or had the decency to contact me. I wasted whole day. Have sent him emails, text messages and phone messages: no reply, as of 8/26/16. I'm at the point of using another contractor and spending money to repair. John had given me a 3 year service agreement, which doesn't mean anything anymore. John has turned out to be very unprofessional and I'd never recommend him to anyone. He's educated me on never to use a small contractor for such a sale/installation. Stick with a larger, will established company.. Big lesson learned.

John kept our money, $2,500, and never came back to install the equipment. John asked us for 50% of the cost project, $2500, to start, scheduled the install and never came back. Did not communicate for 2 weeks then, asked for a second chance to install the equipment because had some family issues. He did not come back and did not call us again. Finally, after almost a month he said he will return our money in a week. It has been 3 more weeks and as of today, 08/16/16 he is not responding our calls neither giving us our money back. John is very personable and likeable during the initial visit and will ask you for money up front. DO NOT HIRE HIM. John's reviews were very high over the first several years of his company. But, the person I am dealing with now is very different that the person in the history of the previous reviews. I would never recommend this contractor to anyone and people like John should not be in business. We were very patient with him and he took advantage of us. My wife is pregnant and he knew that the heat was an issue for her. Still he did not care and we still do not have a new system.

Pro was on time. Very courteous. And found problem right away. And was quick to repair the problem. And advised us of possible future problems as we have an older central air unit.

John knows what he is doing, shows up when he says he will, and responded promptly to my inquiry. My job involved running the lines up the outside of the building and getting into the attic space through the soffit. Couldn't have asked for a better- looking finished job.

Very knowledgeable and do things right!! I like how they actually take you through what they did and teach the homeowner how to be knowledgeable as well. Friendly and professional and thank god I found them because originally I had a bad install with someone that did not have license and did everything wrong. :(

Great service, fast, friendly. Knowledgable. Willing to discuss project and items with me without trying to swindle me. As a single Mom on a budget, that's a BIG deal. And it was the ignitor not the pump.

John was very responsive to the initial appointment, showed up on time and quickly diagnosed the problem. He seemed very knowledgeable and interested in the long term maintenance of my furnace. He had to return for a minor adjustment, but was very accommodating. I would definitely hire again.

Furnace and Central AC installation was perfect.

They could have sold me a new furnace but checked the furnace and found I had a bad fuse. Heat is working and they only charged for the service call. What do you know? There are still honest people in the world.

They showed up on time even late at night. John was excellent to work with. The work was done fast and effeciant. In fact I am going to replace my furnace soon and they will definately get the job.

Initial appointment was cancelled by Northstar H&C, due to a scheduling conflict. They were flexible in setting up a second appointment. Heating system was fixed in 35 min. Standard $85 service charge.

John did an excellent job at a very competive price. Unfortunately, he had more business booked than he could handle during my project so my project took longer than anticipated. Plus he got busy with other jobs and left a couple of minor things incomplete. I would still highly recommend him, but make sure you do not have any time constraints.

Northstar Heating and Cooling knows what they are doing.

John and his crew (Dan & Don) were very diligent, prompt and courteous in the installation of a new furnace with A/C coil for me. They had a rather difficult install with lack of room but more than overcame any obstacles.I applaud their ingenuity. John displays a very confident and knowledgeable manner in all of his work. I would highly recommend this company for any heating or A/C needs ! Top drawer in my book !
