I had sod installed in my backyard and a retaining wall installed. My yard is on a hill and they did not pin the sod and it rolled up. I advised Mr key to come and assess the damage but he refused. He was more than happy to bring a new contract to my house and pick up a check. I was not going to use him again seeing the crappy work they did. I ended up taking him to small claims court in St Charles and the court ruled in my favor for $2865.00. Mr Key is ignoring the verdict will not say why he wont pay, dead silence. Worst customer relations ever. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY unless you like being treated like crap. IĆ¢ m still trying to get paid. MR Key informed me that they only pin on hills. I informed him that my whole backyard was on a hill. I ended up using Kiefer Lawn Service and they did an excellent job!

I hired KPM landscape to regrade our yard, they also installed a retaining wall and a french drain. I was easy to work with Dale and his group, they are always on time and goes above and beyond. I would definitely vouch for KPM landscape and Mr.Dale Key.

Ć¢ Ā¢ The project: Re-establish new swale in same location as current swale creating a larger barrier between swale and house. New swale will be approximately 200 feet long. Install French Drain in same location as new swale. Two drains coming off the carport will be tied into the system. Ć¢ Ā¢ The problem: A 200-foot, 6-inch pipe takes the water from the source to the top of a large, sloping lawn area and simply released. During heavy rain, there is so much water coming through the 6-inch pipe that a gully has formed on the lawn. The source of the problem is not what is captured by the French Drain but the huge amount of water that is coming off the roof. There are two downspouts connected to the pipe which covers about 2000 square feet of roof. Ć¢ Ā¢ At this point I think the best answer is to create a small dry basin at the top of the sloping lawn. Just enough to temporarily hold the water during heavy rain. Right now, the water goes immediately downhill and creates its own path. Ć¢ Ā¢ On April 7, 2023, I thought that Dale Key and I had agreed on how the issue would be resolved and a completion date. Then Dale became non-responsive. Three phone calls were not returned. Ć¢ Ā¢ As a result, I put everything in writing and sent him an email. He responded by email and now saying that what I was suggesting was out of scope. Ć¢ Ā¢ Of course, this issue was not a part of the original scope. I told him that you cannot fix one problem then create a new problem and walk away from it. The new problem created by this project is significant and the damage to the lawn continues with every heavy rain. Ć¢ Ā¢ The best he could do was offer a solution which would have no effect on solving the problem. I have told him that I am assuming that he has abandoned this project. He has not replied otherwise. Ć¢ Ā¢ I am very disappointed with Dale KeyĆ¢ s lack of commitment to us and to our project. Unfortunately, I paid him in full on March 2, 2023, when he said he was finished. Ć¢ Ā¢ I will not use Dale Key and KPM Lawn and Landscape (or KeyĆ¢ s Property Management) on any future projects.
Response from Company:
The scope of this project was to redirect water flowing into the pool and onto the driveway to a new location in the yard. Every objective of the project was met and successful. The client then became concerned that water was flowing onto the lawn and wanted us to construct a 12 x 12 water retention basin to hold the water back. We gave him an estimate for the basin and offered two other options that could be completed at less cost. The client would only consider the basin so we offered to construct the basin at the price of materials which was not satisfactory. The client simply wanted a couple thousand dollars of work completed for free.

They were so nice, kept their word and did quality work. They also were one of the lowest bids we got and cleaned up the area so nicely.

Dale and his employees are very professional. They arrived and did the work needed. If they had a question Dale was available to answer . They did exactly as they were planned to do. Paver patio ( remove the old one and put in next door neighbors yard) pull some tree stumps and back fill rock in certain areas. They also put new landscaping fabrics down and rocked the side planting area of my house. Professional and courteous. I will call them back for other projects I might have in the future.
