Excellent, excellent, excellent contractor who is humble, patient and very honest. He is very detailed, meticulous and explained what needed to be done. My project took a week because of the rain and if not, it would have been done sooner. Showed up everyday very early in the morning and worked hard with his workers. Communicated well when he needed something and paused to seek clarifications where he was unsure when it came to how I wanted the deck to look like. Very happy with the work done as my deck came out gorgeous as I had envisioned. Although, he had to buy some additional materials, he promptly showed me all receipts of what he purchased and explained why. Which I very must appreciated. Afterwards, he pointed to me all the materials left and cleaned up nicely. This is the contractor for you folks. Not the pretenders out there who are ready to rip you off and be disingenuous. Highly, highly recommend.

Showed up as promised, worked quickly, outcome was high quality. As a home owner I need a go to carpenter, and Kaufman is the team I will always call.

Literally, the second I clicked the "connect me" button on HomeAdvisor after finding matching contractors, Tom of Kaufman Carpentry Services called within 5 minutes. He arrived the same day to inspect and reasonably quoted the work, which was to fix an unsafe wood balcony off the master bedroom. Over the years, the balcony's wood planks were starting to curl and the railings were not safely secure, and a couple of the joists had gotten weaker. He said it was faster and more cost effective to just replace the wood balcony than replace the different parts piecemeal and "sistering" (adding support pieces) the weaker joists. Very nice and professional, he and his crew arrived on time the next day (Saturday), removed the old wood balcony, installed the new one, and cleaned up. The new balcony is nicer and sturdier than the old one that was removed. Responsive, fast, professional, great work, I would recommend Tom to anyone.

I simply can't say enough about Tom and the crew he has working for him. They all are friendly, polite and considerate. I had noticed that the stair stringers on my 9 year old deck were badly rotted and thought this was a job I could do myself. With the help of a neighbor, we removed the first stringer, which revealed more rot in the structure boards of the deck itself. I was in way over my head. Another neighbor had recommended HomeAdvisor so my wife immediately logged on and entered our problem. Within 5 minutes, I was on the phone with Tom. He was able to look at the job within a few hours, gave us a price, and we hired him. Fortunately the timing was good as he was between jobs. He was at our house with his crew the following day, at the time he said he would be here and had the rotten boards removed from the deck before he left for the day. The next day, Saturday, Tom and the crew were once again here when he said they'd be here, and worked all day to finish the repairs. The job came out perfect! Tom and his crew are meticulous workers. Tom made some changes to the way the stringers were attached to the deck after discussing the changes with me. He also suggested other changes to reduce the likely-hood of the stringers rotting in the future. When they left, you you be hard pressed to ever know they were ever there. Everything was cleaned up, looking like it was before the project began. Amazing! It's hard for me to put into words how thoroughly satisfied we are with Kaufman Carpentry Services. Based on my experience, I highly recommend them.

We hired Tom and his crew to re-model our breezeway and dining room - what a job! Not only was it affordable, but they were efficient, clean, and great to work with, and they were able to get all the renovating done in a sufficient amount of time. Tom is extremely accommodating and helpful throughout the entire process - I very much enjoyed working with him, and would highly recommend Tom if you are looking to get work done. Tom arrived on time and discussed our small but complicated kitchen alteration with real insight, providing a fair and competitive price for the work. He returned with his associate as scheduled, and proceeded to accomplish the work efficiently and in a craftsman-like manner. His expertise, and his ability to provide what can only be termed a "surgical intervention" in carpentry, saved us from having to do a much more costly project. We greatly appreciated his good humor, his willingness to clarify each step of the job, and his skill in performing the work. We would recommend him highly!
