Do not hire Kay Construction. Although their prices are cheap, their work and professionalism is cheaper. We had a small drywall job that needed to be done in the bathroom, two feet up all around the perimeter of the room. He quoted us for a quick job that would be done in three consecutive days, which is the reason we hired him. We had a deadline for this to be done, and he said he could meet that for us with a job done in three days. However, it definitely was not quick. We were clearly his last priority those weeks while he took off to work on bigger and higher paying jobs with little regard to our time. For us, This was a big job. This was a lot of money. If you're going to take on new clients, at least respect their time and their financial investment by committing yourself to finishing their project in the time frame you said you would. Aaron was consistently many hours late to the job, having us spend a cumulative 20+ hours off from work just waiting at home for him to show up and begin work. That's 20+ hours just waiting for him to arrive when he said he'd be there, not even counting the hours that he worked! Twice he cancelled due to car troubles, and that was many hours after the time we were told to expect him to arrive. Once he had to leave early because we lost power in a storm so he couldn't continue working, which was fine, but to arrive late so many other times is unacceptable. Be a professional. Buy a cell phone. Communicate with your clients. I was not home to inspect the work when he said he had finished, so he collected his money and left. The craftsmanship is terrible and the job is unfinished. There are holes and gaps in parts of the drywall he installed, and the plaster is completely rough and uneven in other parts. There's an entire corner piece of wall that he never even finished. It's jagged drywall, not smooth, and he left the unused corner molding piece in the room just sitting there, not installed where it clearly should have gone. He also left the room a disaster with chunks of the plaster component all over the floor for us to clean up. He gave us a one year warranty on the work, but he is not honoring it. Over the past few weeks I have left multiple messages on both phone numbers that they provided, and no one has answered my calls for weeks. Very unprofessional, and I would at least appreciate them returning a phone call to discuss this situation. If they had returned the calls, they would be getting a better review. I'm disappointed with this entire experience and I would advise against hiring someone who is unable to return phone calls, show up on time, do high quality work, or complete the job that they were hired to do. Go with a professional, and do not go with Kay Construction.
