I'm giving a 1 star rating because the two employees, Tyler and Chris, were hard-working and did the best they could with the limited supplies provided by their employer. The owner/manager was unprofessional on many levels. They were hired to remove a plaster ceiling and install drywall, molding, and paint. He asked for a 50% deposit upfront before he started the project. The second 50% was to be paid after the project was completed. I provided a personal check which cleared my bank the Friday prior to the Monday start date of the project. On Monday morning, I went to work and my dad stayed at home so they could access the house. Mr. Kindt called to tell me that there was a problem with my check and that he needed the rest of the payment (the second 50%) in cash. He claimed that his bank put a two-week hold on my check due to overdraft problems. I told him there must be a mistake, but I would be happy to call my bank and find out what was going on. I called my bank and there was no issue with my check or my account. The rep told me that the issue must be with the contractor's bank and/or account. She provided me with a document that proved my check had cleared on Friday, so that I could give it to him. I called Mr. Kindt back and relayed the information and told him I had document proof. He said it didn't matter. He still needed the cash. He said it was Christmas and he wasn't sure if he had the money to get the supplies for the project. I told him I was sorry, but we had an agreement: 50% upfront and 50% after completion, and the deposit had already been deducted from my account. A few hours later, I received a call from my dad that Mr. Kindt needed cash for supplies because I had given him a bad check. I am the sole homeowner who hired Kindt Construction for this project. Going behind my back to my elderly father (who is not the homeowner) is completely unacceptable. My additional complaints include: 5 days to complete a small bedroom ceiling; not providing employees with safety equipment (dust masks) and booties; using our broom, dustpan, stepstool and paper towels because they didn't bring their own supplies; and tracking dust and paint through the rest of the house (which could have been avoided if employees were provided with booties or if plastic tarps were placed over the floors).

Highly recommend. They did a great job.
