LA & J Construction, LLC

I hired this company because Luis said they could provide multiple projects, including concrete, flagstone, and complete sod installation, and was an LLC and had a construction license. We agreed on a price on February 1, 2021, of which I paid half of the total job up front ($7500), and work was to begin that following week, and all the projects would be completed within 4 weeks. The crew showed up the first week and poured concrete and installed flagstone, but did not seal the flagstone as agreed upon. Luis said they would return once the concrete cured to finish the flagstone and begin prepping the ground for sod. At that point, I paid Luis another $3500, leaving a balance of $4000. Two of his crew showed up to remove the forms a week later, but nothing else has been done since the end of March. I have called and left messages for Luis, sent him emails, and to date his voice mailbox is full, and I cannot even leave messages. On April 14 Luis did finally answer his phone and said there had been a death in the family and he had been in Mexico the last three weeks where there was no cell reception, promising to be out again that week to complete the work. He never showed up, and once again I am unable to reach him due to a full mailbox. I finally sent a letter to his business stating if work was not complete by May 15, 2021, then I would be filing a complaint against his business license as well as reporting him to HomeAdvisor, etc. Today is July 8th, 2021, I still have not heard from this company and am still unable to leave a voice mail. Do not hire this company. They have proved to be untrustworthy and unprofessional while I have done everything possible to get this project completed. I will be reporting him to the NM Regulation and Licensing Department next - companies like this do not deserve our business, especially when there are honest, hard-working companies out there needing the work.

This man uses his New Mexico Contractors license as a tool to defraud clients.

He asked for $1000, I paid that and he never came back to finish the job. He is shady.

They assumed that their finishers (taping and mudding) would be coming in to â make things pretty.â As this is a workshop, I saw no need to tape and texture, so there are gaps between some sheets (where insulation and framing can be seen) and pencil writing on the walls.

In doing some research the bid was competitive. They arrived on time and they got right to work. They finished the work in a timely manner but did not hurry. After they finished they cleaned up and if we did not see the improvements we would have never known they were there. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

They are terrible! Donâ t know how to do good sheetrock work. Donâ t show up on time. Donâ t complete the work. Took my deposit and didnâ t refund any monies they owed me! Home Advisor should discontinue their relationship with them!

I was told the stucco would match the rest of the house, and to give it a few days. After almost two weeks, the color is still noticeably darker.

Hired LA and J Construction to zeroscape my front hard through HomeAdvisor. They did ok on the zerocaping itself (remove grass, add gravel plants. Problems occurred with my sprinkler/drip system. The front yard was zones 1and 2 sprinkler zones out of 5 zones, zone 5 I asked Luis (owner) to just use zone 1 and or 2 for the drip. He insisted on extending zone 5 to the front ensured me there would be enough pressure. Well, in the process his workers stripped my main sprinkler/drip valve in. Eventually had to hire a pro to fix it because I could not figure it out; I did not touch the main valve, so did not think of checking it. Another $350 to fix that on top of Hired LA &J Construction $5.2K. Well, the drip system is barely dripping water my new plants are all dying. After calling them numerous times, getting our office hours are voicemail full I finally got a hold of Luis to come to take a look. He did not want to. After all, he got his money just said It was working we left. I foolishly took his word for it. It was not done properly. Unresponsive, difficult to work with, wrecked my drip system would not own up to it. Asked for an itemized bill several times. Never got it. I do not even know what dying plants I have. Now I gotta hire someone who actually understands sprinkler/ drip systems. I would not recommend these folks.

Very talented crew, on time every day scheduled. They customized work as needed. Covid-19 created some challenges but they completed work beyond my expectations.

Job is still in the works, slowed by this Corona Virus. Had some issues in the beginning, but he is showing himself to be a real problem solver.

Did a decent job, left there dumpster in the yard for three weeks.

Had a few hiccups with the covid-19 business but they are professional and are doing a great job. We have a few other walls we need to get done and will be using LA&J.

Drywall taping and texture turned out satisfactory except for clean up. Concrete floors were not protected which resulted in a lot of scrapping on my part before floors could be installed. Price was good but owner not very professional concerning estimates and invoicing.

They did a great job.

Project is not yet completed. Needs to communicate with staff.

They showed up in a timely manner, worked hard for seven+hours and completed the entire job in that time frame.

I had a wall built for a courtyard. Unfortunately, Mr. Sanchez would not fix the crack in the wall, would not respond to my texts, and blocked my calls. It is been two weeks and I ca not get in touch with him.

Mr. Sanchez was vert responsive and did what he said he would do for the price quoted.

They did great work! Didn't always arrive at the time they said they would but did quality work so I was ok with a bit of lateness. The workers were very nice and knew what they were doing. I would definitely hire them again if I need more concrete work done.

I was very satisfied with the work done. They poured a 475 sq ft patio addition in one day. The only down side was they never came back to cut the expansion joints, even after two calls.
