Stanley was really good to work with; he worked under our schedule and with the time-frame given.

before reading anything else, DO NOT PURSUE BUSINESS WITH STANLEY WILLIAMS/LBD. Stanley Williams, the owner of the company, stained our floors the wrong color. When I talked with him about how this was not the color he promised, he became very angry, claiming the work is finished and demanded his check. Instead of waiting for me to get home to talk about possible solutions, he grabbed a bucket of black stain and poured it all over our floors. It got on our walls, refrigerator, and cabinets. He was very paranoid I would not pay him, which is completely false considering I gave him a deposit worth half of the job a few days prior. The full story: From the start, Stanley was unprofessional. He made sexual advances in which limits and boundaries had to be defined. Because he had already started the job when he did this, I set the boundaries and moved forward. During the sanding portion of the job, his workers were extremely hard-working. They did not take a break and were very studious. That was not the issue. The issue was the color of the stain. Reasonably, we wanted the refinished floors to match the color of our other hardwood floors and our trims. We told Stanley this and he agreed. After the first coat was applied, the color of our floors looked absolutely nothing like before. They were much lighter. When I talked to Stanley, he said that our floors would never look like they would before and the natural stain was the best possible. I understand that it is difficult to have an exact color match, but Stanley never mentioned this until after he stained our floors natural. He was dishonest, and never told us what he was doing. He just promised us that the floors would look like the original. Now, at this time, I had to go to the airport to pick up a family member. So, Stanley showed me a piece of hardwood sample and claimed that after the second coat was applied, our floors would look just like the sample. I was okay with this, as the color matched closely enough. He also said he would go to Home Depot to look for better matching stains. Because I had to leave, he demanded the check. I read some prior reviews on homeadvisor stating that Stanley would leave with the check, and never return any phone calls or messages regarding unfinished work. I was therefore worried that he would just leave with the check, not fulfilling his promise to try to fix the color. My oldest daughter offered to stay home to make sure that the work he promised was the finished work. She would stay there until I was back to make sure everything was right and to give him his check. Had he finished early and did the job we asked for, I left the check with her to give to him. He ended up finishing early and did not go to Home Depot as he said. We was being aggressive towards my daughter, demanding his check and saying that the only thing left to do is to get his money as the job was done. The job may have been done, but it was certainly not the job I asked for since the

I hired Stan to refinish my stairs and hallway. It was a terrible experience. Stan did very little of the work. Instead, 90% was done by a 17 year old that he dropped off before leaving for the day. Although Stan's employee was a very good worker, he had very little experience. I thought the job was going very slowly in comparison to another estimate of cost and time I had received. When I questioned Stan about how slowly the job was going, he became very defensive and much of the communication that followed from him was inappropriate and belligerent. Also, I did not expect the level of dust from the sanding and Stan did not put up any tarps the first day. I asked him to do so the following day and he made a minimal effort. He also did not take the garbage (mostly sanding dust) with him after the job was completed. When I asked him about it he said "I don't want that toxic waste in my van."€ The next day I was digging up some ferns in the back of my deck and saw that he had thrown some of that sanding dust underneath them. I took photographs. Money was also an issue. Shortly after Stan arrived, he requested half of the payment in cash. He had not mentioned that, so I gave him a check. At the conclusion of the job, he said it was $100.00 more than he had quoted me. He eventually remembered he was incorrect. I had to ask for a written receipt. The work itself was ok. The edges of the stairs were not done very well and I asked him to do those areas more completely. I also asked him to try to match the wood fill with the stain and he did that in most places. There are several small areas in the hallway with bubbles. I have owned my house for 32 years and have had an enormous amount of work done by many different contractors. I ha€™ve never written a negative review of anyone's work.
