My elderly uncle hired him & the work was to be done after the ground thawed. My uncle canceled the work due to emergency health issues that resulted in both he & my aunt moving into nursing homes. I am their POA & tried to help them recover their deposit but the owner refused to return it. He gave excuses that were not part of the contract to justify keeping my elderly aunt & uncle?s $1,036.50 deposit which was minus the "cancellation fee". The owner, Bob refused to honor the contract he signed with my uncle. I made multiple efforts to resolve this matter, but was unsuccessful. As a result, I filed a formal complaint with the Maine Attorney General?s Office. I believe businesses should honor their contractual obligations & treat elderly fairly, especially when circumstances beyond their control prevent them from moving forward with a project. I would caution others before hiring LB Services. My uncle worked hard all his life, had very little & Bob refused to honor contract!

Not good. The first day of the project they broke ground and the contractor found the area of our new deck was wet and mucky. He choose to move forward without developing a plan to deal the saturated area. At that time, I suggested looking into using tecno post. His response was to expensive. His solution was gutters. The project took 2 months to complete. I was satisfied and paid my final payment on August 24, 2023. A few months later in November 2023 the deck door was not shutting properly as a result of the right front corner had lifted by the frost 3 to 4 inches. I notified the contractor and was told I needed gutters. The next August 2024 I had the contractor installed gutters at my expense. November 2024 I had the same frost problem. This caused my deck door to bend and damaged the door. I notified the contractor nothing was done to fix my problem. During 2025 I made several calls to the contractor that were not returned. I had a 3 year warranty on the project and wanted this project fixed. I had the same frost problem the next Winter 2025. Spring of 2026 I called the contractor, he agreed to stop by and look at the deck. In April 2026 he stopped by to inspect the project and assured me he would fix this problem. I called him in June 2026 he did not return my call. I called him again on September 24, 2026 as of this message he still has not returned my call.

L&B Services did a tear down and rebuild of an old deck. They really know how to build a solid deck with poured cement footings, sauna tubes, and sturdy lumber. Bob was very good at keeping us informed of the work to be done and the timeline. The deck was done on time. It is a large deck (30x12) with 3 sets of stairs, dog gates, and skirting. The end result was a sturdy deck that will last for decades. Very easy and personable group to work with.

Bob was friendly and efficient, getting the job done correctly and quickly.

I rarely give any service or product a 5 star. L&B services helped me with a deck repair that I cannot do. They bent just enough to do what I asked, as this was a temporary repair. In 2-3 years I will need to have the current deck replaced. If this company is still in business I will reach out to them first for an estimate. L&B has been 2-3 successful hires through Home Advisor/Angi. Too many from Angi fail. I am glad to know and have experienced success with L&B! I would highly recommend L&B for your project. Bob Oakes is an old school (meaning impeccable values and the job done correctly) contractor. He doesnâ t cut corners and communicates every step of the way. We were very pleased with his work and highly recommended him.

Mr Oakes replaced two decks for us. His workmanship is top notch. Bob is a true person, honest, great work ethic. Weather played a factor in our decks and Bob kept us informed if he was delayed and cleaned up everyday. Bob will be doing more projects for us.. Thank you Mr Oakes!
