Lalama Building & Design

We bought a house in Tucson and hired Shane Lalama as the General Contractor on our house. He was hired to perform a number of renovations and improvements to the house including but not limited to: Roofing, BBQ installation, Electrical, Carpentry, Cabintry, and Plumbing. The first few months went smoothly, but immediately following that period, the whole project took a precipitous and costly turn downward. First he hired unqualified sub-contractors who did not have proper training or experience in their field. Their work was shabby and poorly done, or in some circumstances not done at all. Second, he regularly took cash and check payments from us on a good faith basis and then either did a poor job performing the work or not performing the work at all, thus obligating us to spend even more money hiring additional contractors to fix or finish his job. He kept no detailed records of his work nor did he provide any financial documentation of his purchase orders. Lastly, when we finally realized that he had completely abandoned the project, we attempted to contact him to resolve the issue and ask for money that was owed to us, he was completely unreachable and would not return calls or make any attempt to speak with us or reimburse us money AND materials that were owed to us. Many items were missing from our house as well. He was the most duplicitous and dishonest contractor we have ever worked with and costed us a significant amount of money.

Great work done, I was very pleasantly surprised after having had bad experiences in the past with home renovations. I will use this company again. They built a porch onto my home, installed entry doors, and did some side projects. Very happy with the work they did, excellent customer service, highly responsive.

I do not know were to start. Our project started in October with a projected November completion and almost march and they have not competed the work. The owner is a liar keeps making empty promises. For example We agreed on Porcelain tile and he did not think that we would notice that he used Ceramic tile, He had no intention to let us know! We hired them to paint the exterior, Tile our entire house and remodel two bathrooms. The owner hire a worker that tile our house with no spacer, damage my fridge, and did a horrible work with the tile. The tiles are un even and hallow Our hall bath was very poorly done . We are looking to demo the bath and pay another contractor to redo. I feel that they are to busy to complete good quality work on time. We email and text the owner several times to express our concerns and he only came onsite 1 time to address our concerns We have never dealt with anyone so incompetent and horrible communications skills. very disappointing at home advisor for recommending such a horrible contractor. Just take a look at his Google review. we have the entire process and lies documented. Very confused how they have 5 stars

He does what he says, he did a great job. I've used other contractors in the past and no one compares, real honest guy, trustworthy, great quality of work and he will do a great job

Shane was excellent to work with. So patient to all the many challenges. I cant thank him enough for doing such a great job.

He is excellent. He is in the process of doing some additional work also. He built a beautiful addition and some internal expansion of fireplace. Prices were much more reasonable than others. Great communication skills.
