Any remodel creates challenges and major disruptions to ones life, especially a bathroom when one has only one. We had one set of steps replaced on the deck first. This was very rocky and it took 3 times until we were pleased. Tony is great to work with but had a serious medical issue half way through. The owner jumped in and the situation was addressed. Brian did the electrical, very pleased. Bruce painted and he likes to talk, very pleased. Chuck did the majority of the work and he has his own way and ideas but after a talk by the owner I understand, he did what we wanted. Chuck told me three times he couldn't do what I wanted and then said he wouldn't? He did what I wanted. The bathroom TP holder couldn't be recessed because of electrical he said. Found a photo of when I took the room to the studs and there were no wires. He also couldn't recess the medicine cabinet, it is recessed. Wanted a recessed cabinet over the toilet which he said he couldn't do. I became tired of dealing with Chuck and these things are not done but we are still happy with the job and workers. I would rather not have to deal with Chuck, he likes to do things his own way. I am permanently and totally disabled and have experience with a remodel so it was frustrating to be told something couldn't or wouldn't be done when I knew it could.

Project: Remodel or Renovate One or More Rooms
I had no problem with their work but it took too much time. Two weeks after the concrete was poured it cracked the company said they were not responsible for fixing it.

The man I made the aggreement with was very nice, some communication was poor because he was very sick. I was without my toilet for two days because the toilet was broken and they had to get psrts or something.

Chuck and Adam were GREAT! They respected our home and did a great job installing our shower tile and flooring. Painting by Bruce looks great. A 5-6 day job took 4 weeks. The second plumber wanted to charge an additional $1400 to the already agreed upon cost because there was more to it than initially planned. "Plumbing as needed" did not mean a lot on the contract. The first plumber came in and put shutoff valves in what would have been behind the tile and would have required a hole cut into our bedroom wall. Chuck corrected it by putting the valves in the basement , easy access, no problem. This first plumbers crew came in to tear out the bathroom walls, remove the bathtub, and remove the ceiling above the bath tub. They came ill-prepared. No tarps for the floor (they went out to buy some) or doorway to the bathroom, no exhaust fan, no shop vac, no broom or dust pan. They also left a bathtub drain pipe open in the basement so when we used the kitchen sink that night it flowed onto the basement floor. When they were removing the plaster wall and drywall, there was no plastic on the door, they left the window open, the breeze blew into the house and clouds of the dust went down the hall to the far end of the house into the kitchen, living room, and master bedroom. They reached about 4:00 and said they were done and were leaving. I had to stop them and ask what about all the dust. They said they would go out and buy some swiffers. They came back with the cheapest foam dusters you could find and just used them around the house. They did not even fold the floor tarps in half so we wouldn't track dust all over. They would have left the house in an absolute disaster had I not said anything to them. They could not wait to get out of here. I have pictures of thick films of the dust. They did not return. I guess we were naïve thinking that the job would be at least 95% completed when the painter left. Instead, we had to put on the hardware, attach the bathroom door, and reattach bathroom cupboard doors. That night, before the paint was even dry total payment was requested. Yet there was no final inspection, no punch list, nothing to review the work that had been done. This was our first experience with a contractor who had hired subcontractors. At no point was there an offer to bring in a cleanup crew to take care of the dirt and dust. At the end, are we satisfied with the result, yes BUT totally dissatisfied with the way it was done and handled. If you believe that the end justifies the means (example: solve world hunger by eliminating people) this would be okay. If you believe that the way things are handled to reach a goal makes a difference too......

The person that actually came in to do the majority of the job was very unprofessional. His work was less then acceptable. I am currently waiting for the second worker to come in and correct everything that was not done correctly or completed by the first worker. Completely frustrated. After the second contractor came in and completed the bathroom they still needed to have a 3rd contractor come and repaint the bathroom. It took almost 3 months for them to complete my bathroom. I will say that they stuck with it until I was happy with the job.

Review by Eric I. in Canton, OH
I hire landmark remodelers because on first meeting, Tony seemed to know what he was doing and said they do mostly commercial properties so their work is above what others in the market are doing. His instructions was that I needed to make sure I had all the materials that I was required to purchase available before the work started which I did. I had already paid to him a deposit as required which he deposited on the same day within the hour. It took longer than he had stated to get his guys to come do the work. Later found out they were not Landmark contractors that came to my house but sub contractors he had hired. I didn't think much of it until later when I started noticing work was not being done correctly and when I would ask if it was to code I would be told yes or that they will correct it but they never did. Long story short, these were unlicensed contractors and they did not know what they were doing. I stopped the project and hired a home inspection. The report identified that the remodel is not to code as I suspected and additionally, inspection recommended a complete rework. 3 months later I have an incomplete bathroom remodel that is completely out of code, wasted money and materials. I do not recommend Landmark and hope that home advisor will remove them from their list of recommended contractors.
