I trusted reviews from Home advisor, so I hired them. The price was reasonable and I was hoping to get nice outdoor fireplace with a reasonable price. That was my mistake. Our fireplace looked worse than family project and doesn't look like a professional job. I need to hire another contractor to fix this. It was a wasting HUGE money.

I highly recommend Lehigh Valley Chimney Specialists. I knew my chimney had a cracked crown, loose bricks at the top and several courses needed rebuilt. Was unaware of issues on the shoulder (where the chimney steps in) that there was no mortar and water could infiltrate. Phil was thorough outlining all that needed to be done during the estimate & included several issues I was unaware of. They needed to remove a total of 16 courses and replace a cracked flue pipe. The masons were punctual and my property was cleaned up afterwards. Lehigh Valley Chimney Specialists exceeded my expectations.

Project: Repair a Brick or Stone Fireplace (Non-Gas)
First I would like to say that everyone at Lehigh Valley Chimney was very nice and they were able to finish a job another masonry contractor, whom was from Easton Pa had started. The other mason contractor "Not Lehigh Valley Chimney" started the job but disappeared after I gave him $5000 deposit for labor and materials. People really need to be careful when hiring a contractor, do your research, I hadn't. As for Lehigh Valley Chimney Specialists, I hired them for a couple projects. The first being the chimney. They came looked at the chimney and gave me a good price. It was completed in a reasonable time frame and I was happy with the overall appearance and construction. However I do have a few complaints. 1) The chimney was supposed to be taken down to the roof line so you wouldn't notice the difference between the new and old brick. The original brick is no longer being manufactured. Approx one foot of the old chimney was left above the roof line. You can see the difference in the brick. If they they had taken the old brick down to the roof line as was in the contract there wouldn't be an issue. 2) The roof now has a small leak were the chimney comes through it. 3) Where the chimney abuts the home there is now a gap where you can see though to the outside when in the attic. The second project, a separate contract, was to replace 3 separate sets of wooden steps with block, add handrails to all three sets of steps, add a brick paver patio approx 21' x 21', add a short concrete sidewalk approx 10' in length from the driveway to the entrance door. I felt their price for this was high, but I needed it done and I believed the workmanship would be of the same quality. I overpaid. Unlike the chimney, which came out good, the steps, sidewalk and patio are not their specialty's. The concrete walk to the entrance door was poorly formed which left the sides wavy, the surface appeared to have been leveled with a stone rake and left to cure, it was clumpy and uneven with low dips and ponds. To look professional, it should have had smooth edges with a broom finish and sloped to the the lawn area. It looked as if a couple kids did it. They did come back after I complained but only put a surface patch over it. There is also a half inch lip to the stair landing which someone could trip on. Not a smooth transition. It looks terrible. It really needs to be removed and re poured. On the same sidewalk they were to do a brick step to the porch with a limestone cap. They did the entire step in brick without the cap and had to be called back to remove the top layer of brick so they could add the limestone cap, which only being approx 5' in length I assumed would be done in one piece of limestone, not two 2 1/2' pieces. The center seam on the cap is directly above the joint in the top brick, not appealing. As for the back patio, the pavers are not level and do not slope away from the house. The surface is wavy and water puddles by the house in certain areas. The other two sets of wood steps at the back of the house were replaced with landscape block, one approx 6'.6" width 7 steps, the other approx 4' width 5 steps. The sidewall on the large set of steps had a 2" gap which went from one side to the other. There were large adhesive swirls on top of two of the steps. More than likely someone forgot they glued the underside of the block and set it down on the top of the step, twice. It should wear off someday. Finally the railing, we opted for the white vinyl. The first one was cut incorrectly and someone tried to fix it with a white nail through one of the plastic spindle's into the plastic handrail along with some white silicone, Really? The guy had to know you cant nail these plastic railing's together. The second set came out better, but the spindles were not level vertically. The last set had some road rash on the spindles, At the end of the day , 4 stars for the chimney, 1 star for everything else.

I hired Lehigh Valley Chimney Specialists for two jobs. The first, a chimney re-liner, they did really well. It was a difficult job, given the height and location, but the two men working on the project powered through to get it done in a day, and did it well. I hired them again for a second job -- repointing some of my old brick work. The pricing quote fell in the middle, but I wanted someone who knew what they were doing, and who appreciated the age of the brick (120-years-plus) and the delicate attention needed. I was assured they understood this. They knocked it out in a little over 2 days. But in the few months since they completed the project, I've noticed several issues with their workmanship. For one, they ground out several areas for repointing, but didn't actually put new mortar in quite a few of the joints. Secondly, their work was a bit sloppy, as they managed to spill mortar onto my porch roof, which I only recently discovered and cannot get off. Finally, my main hope in having the repointing work done was to prevent further deterioration to the brickwork. However, I continue to find small pieces of brick and mortar on the ground, having fallen away from the house wall, than I had prior to the repointing. On the whole, I'm beginning to think that I'm going to have to have the work redone, meaning the money I already spent is effectively lost.

Project: Clean and Inspect a Chimney or Fireplace
Very Profession company and employees. A little higher in price but it is worth the difference. Clean and inspect the fireplace. The video of the interior is a great way to inspect and prevent any chimney fire. After the inspection, no additional work was needed. A different company called me and insisted to come to my location for a free chimney inspection. That company wanted to charge me $1,400 for cleaning and additional work. Told him no never had any interaction with that company.
