I am happy to recommend Leonora Mahle's design service. After three moves in five years my husband and I needed help settling in to a pre-war UWS apartment with our hodgepodge of furniture, unclear design goals and tight budget. We interviewed a number of designers and then, thank goodness, found Leonora through Houzz. A consummate professional, she listened carefully to us and came up with a three-part plan as a way to both solve immediate design issues while respecting the budget. Her ideas were creative and resourceful as she oversaw a gorgeous and clever kitchen re-design; throughout the apartment she sourced new lighting and window treatments and lovely furnishings to complement our decorative items. She was very responsive, managed the contractors and kept the project moving along. I tend to dither on design decisions but quickly came to trust Leonora's advice. In addition to her skills and knowledge as a designer Leonora is a lovely person and a delight to work with.

We liked Leonora so much that not only did we hire her twice (a few years apart), we recommended her to my in-laws who also were happy with their results! Leonora helped us reconfigure our living room and find the perfect pieces and rug to tie it all together. She also helped us make decisions and sourced beautiful, unusual pieces for our dining room, bedroom, and daughters' rooms. Leonora will listen and help you find what you need, as well as what you want.

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Mahle Design. During my search, it was important that I found a designer who could help create the following feelings of earthy, warm and artistic in my space. I also wanted a boho vibe. Having just moved into my apartment, I wanted to start from scratch with the design. After meeting Leonora for a design consultation, she came back with an exquisite range of ideas that were so incredibly thoughtful and cool. I saw the vision on the page. It was an easy decision. The communication during the process was very consistent and timely. When changes needed to be considered, Leonora was always ready with fresh ideas without compromising the design vision and goals. There was ease throughout the whole process and now, I LOVE my apartment. Leonora is amazing. Period.

We’ve now had the pleasure of working with Leonora on four different projects across multiple apartments in New York City and she continues to exceed our expectations every single time. Most recently, she completed her first project in our Upper East Side penthouse and the results are exceptional. Leonora guided us through every detail of the renovation and redesign process with incredible taste and precision. She helped us select tile, flooring, vanities, and accessories for both bathrooms, and designed a beautiful custom cabinet for the primary bathroom that is both functional and elegant. In addition, she created a custom floating console for our foyer that makes a striking first impression. She designed the furniture layout for our wraparound terrace, creating an outdoor space that feels as thoughtful and refined as the interior. In the family room, Leonora helped us choose a wall unit, along with a new carpet and sofa pillows that brought everything together seamlessly. She completely reimagined our living room, transforming it into a sophisticated and inviting space that now includes a six-person dining area, along with a new sofa, chairs, cocktail table, carpet, mirror, and carefully selected accessories. Her eye for detail extends beyond furniture; she helped us choose wallpaper for the private foyer outside our apartment, as well as a truly unique and beautiful wallpaper for the primary bedroom that adds character and warmth. Furthermore, she found a way to repurpose a custom carpet she designed for us over 10 years ago, resizing it perfectly for our entrance foyer; a testament to both her creativity and resourcefulness. Leonora has a keen eye for detail and a gift for selecting distinctive, interesting pieces. She has deep connections within the industry, works with trusted vendors, and is always mindful of cost without ever compromising quality. In addition she is a pleasure to work with; kind, responsive, and highly professional, always quick to reply to texts, emails, and calls. Her fees are very reasonable given the level of service and expertise she provides. Although she now lives in Los Angeles, we were thrilled to learn she continues to take on projects in New York. We couldn’t recommend Leonora more highly and very much look forward to working with her again.
