Reviews
Write a ReviewEngineer was highly knowledgable but more focused on permitting and administrative issues than the engineering issues.
Gave great attention to issues that I'm having with wall. Very professional and knowledgeable with great customer service.
The level engineering was great. He drew the blue prints and now I’m in the process of hiring a contractor
We chose this company because of the reviews on this website. First communication was in October and did not get final drawings until March, which has cost us huge delays and $14k to extend our apartment rental. Even though we fully paid level engineering we had to spend another $4k to get a local engineer to redo the drawings. While structurally sound (apparently) we would have bounce on the second floor with the smaller beam that the engineer put in our drawings. The engineer made us come to his own house to pick up wet sealed drawing for our permit and this could not have been a worse overall experience. They also told us the initial $450 fee for the visit would be credited towards the total fee if we moved forward with them, and while they confirmed that this was the case they did not honor that in our billing. Spoke to the CEO and he took absolutely no responsibility for the engineers lack of disclosure and communication with us. Save yourself the time, aggravation and money - do not hire this company.
I look forward to his written report. I would highly recommend this company for an objective assessment of structural issues in a tenement type building in nyc.
NYC - Called for residential structual inspection. General knowledge of folks during intake -dicey. But they were polite. I was told $550 for 1 hour and 1/2, with no mention this did not include a written report. Later quoted by the actual engineer for an additional @$380 (or so) for the report. Ok, but that basic information should have been mentioned upfront. The Engineer, Jay Butch Macutay Jr. called the day of appt. wanting to change time from 3pm to 12:30. Polite, but this was not possible. He said 3pm was ok, then he never showed. I waited 45 minutes at the location before the agency called to say Jay was not showing up -?car trouble?. Sorry, all but this lack of courtesy is a RED FLAG. I scheduled 3 weeks in advance, took off a 1/2 day from work (get 15 days off a year). This was unprofessional and I should be compensated for my time.
Just what we needed to make sure wall can be removed without structural problems!
The technician was open to listening and appreciating the issue from my perspective, even to my suspicions as to possible cause of the problem. He took his time to review and offered options for approaches to finishing my floors.
The engineer did not seem knowledgeable and was asking us questions we felt like he should have known. His conclusion was pretty much what we thought without additional insight and he dragged it out for weeks. He also made statements about construction that were incorrect, and we had to point out where things were in place that he insisted were not there. He left us with zero confidence and an empty wallet. I wish we had gone with someone else.
