"Doug, we are sorry to hear we did not fully meet your expectations. However, I would like to clarify a few things. Mick had discussed with you on the phone that if we were to close the gap between your steps and the front porch by tilting the steps back, you would then have steps that were tilted toward the house. You both agreed it would be better to leave the level of the step and just lift them straight up. From our pictures, the gap is certainly not worse than we started but the steps are definitely lifted up to a safer height. Regarding the time on the phone.. we always try to consult with our customers if we have any questions while we are working. As with anything, some jobs require more special attention than others, this being one of them. Mick of course had to discuss the tilting of the steps with you as well as a few other things such as the need to saw cut a joint on the sidewalk to be able to achieve proper lift to make sure you were satisfied with the end result. As you were not home when the work was completed, Mick wanted to be sure you were okay with the process each step of the way. I'm sorry if you felt there was too much time spent on the phone but a quick phone call helps us ensure the customer is on board with parts of the project that are not reversible. We have many jobs that are simpler than we can complete without consultation with the customer but this one required a more nuanced approach. Thank you for your business and I hope you will consider calling us for any future projects."
