Asphalt Shingle Roofing - Install or Replace
I would not recommend Lock-N-Wood for any home improvement jobs Reasons listed below 1: Jim was inconsistent Jim told me that this Roof tear off and new shingles would be a 4 day job I fired him on day 17. 2: Jims estimate and contract price was incorrect. Jim did not realize that there was cedar shingles that also had to be removed. this means that I would have to buy plywood at an additional $1300. Jims reply to this was... I guess I messed up. 3: Jim told me they would start at 8:00 a.m. however Jim did not consistently show up on time, most of the days the would arrive at 10:30 or later. Jim also told me he had a 5 man crew with experience roofer, this was also untrue most of the time Jim should up with one or two employees. 4: once the job was started Jim left my yard full of debris for days, I had old shingles full of nails in my front, side and back yard at one point my wife and I had to clear a path so the dog could get to the back of the yard. 5: 3 different occasions Jim left my roof wide open, the 1st time he said it was not going to rain so it would be ok. the second time, I got home the back of my roof was wide open, I tried to call him and text him but Jim did not answer either. so I had to climb on the roof to tarp it the best I could. the next day when I talked to Jim and asked why he would leave my roof wide open Jim said he did not know it was going to rain and not to worry about it he as insurance. I told Jim I was worried because it was my house and I had to tarp it Jim just replied I have insurance. I told Jim that was not acceptable. the water that leaked into my house caused water damage in my bathroom. 6: On the 6th day of a four day job Jim asked if I could give him a 3rd of the remaining money even though the contract stated that the money other then material would be paid at the end of the job. I did give Jim a 3rd of the money this was on a Wednesday. Jim told me he would be at the house the next day at 8:00 am I did not hear from Jim for the next 3 days. when did finally get a call back I asked Jim when the job would be completed he told me by Friday Day 17. I told Jim if he was not done on that Friday day 17 that would be the last day on the job. 7: on day 15 Jim showed up to work with 2 employees, I told Jim that I took time off of work if he needed help. and reminded him that Friday was the day he said the roof would be completed. on day 16 Jim again should up to work with 2 employees I told him I have experience as a cut man so I cut the plywood for the morning, at around 12 another employee should up so I went on the roof and helped tear off the reaming shingles. I have never seen or heard of a contractor that need the help of the home owner to complete a job. 8: on day 17 Jim showed up to work around 10:30 with one employee. I went out to see if Jim needed anything, I even told him I would carry up shingles to him. Jim was sitting on the Roof on the phone. I asked Jim to come dow
