Work Quality is a 2 because he did complete some of the work. I gave .5 on customer service because the program made me enter a number otherwise, it would have been zero since this contractor abandoned the job. We hired this handyman to work on our second home while we were in town as we live 8hrs away. We relied on "Home Advisors" reassurance that they screen all contractors, his current ratings, time constraint and, the fact he told us he was a Veteran. As veterans ourselves, we wanted to hire a fellow Vet and someone we thought would have a good work ethic. The home is currently being rented. It's an older home in Corpus Christi and due to the weather conditions, wood homes can wear quicker in that area. We had front doors replaced with metal ones as well as metal screen doors. That went ok and he seemed eager, while we were present. We left a list of things for him to tackle. The biggest project was the apartment bathroom. Although he said he would later invoice us for any supplies he would buy, he never had the money or credit to purchase them and would call us to get the item for him. On a couple of occasions that he did get some small items, he would IMMEDIATELY send us an invoice to be refunded. We left the area and from there on it was a struggle to get him to work. Since he had already started it and we gave him a percentage up front, we wanted him to complete it. This Contractor had an excuse for not showing up or arriving late EVERY week! There was always a reason why he wasn't there. From illness, to bereavement, to traffic, to conflict with his "crew" (we never saw one) or other customers, weather, etc. WE had to call him to know his whereabouts. He didn't have the courtesy of picking up the phone to let us know he was having issues. He'd blame it on his phone service. He had the most economical phone plan (Cricket). He would return a call or text and often say he would be on the way and then not show up AT ALL. This happened several times. All the while I had someone waiting on him to open the door to do the work. He talked a big fish tale and spun a lot of webs and we tried working with him but at the end, we accepted the fact that we feel we've been betrayed and defrauded and asked him not to return because he hadn't shown up all week. Very disappointed. Based on his business with us, we found this contractor to be unreliable and feel he is a deceiver whose word and business practice has no merit or credibility.
