Mike showed up on time and provided an estimate for the work he would perform. He and his mason arrived the next morning as agreed and his mason went to work disassembling and grinding all the mortar joints on my old chimney. We ran into an unanticipated issue that Mike quickly resolved and his mason completed the work in one full day. My wife thinks the new repair looks great. We are happy to have it fixed prior to the next heating season.

Price seemed a bit high for such a small job, but they could do it the same day. They did come down on the price when I agreed to get it done today. However since then Iâ ve noticed that the mortar in the patched area is nearly flush with the brick face, whereas the other mortar (the whole rest of the wall) is set quite deep in. The patched area really stands out as a patch. They didnâ t match the mortar depth to the rest of the wall. Iâ ve repainted the entire hearth to see if that helps, but itâ s still quite noticeable. Not impressed. Lesson learned.
