Kitchen - Remodel
Mike was nice and seemed accommodating in the beginning but in the end he became argumentative and a little aggressive. He quoted a good price that included everything but the sink, faucet, microwave and my appliances (which i was keeping). They basically gutted the kitchen and increased the size of my pantry. They sanded, patched and painted the walls of the kitchen and ceilings of the kitchen, living room and hallway (there was no separation). The problem was they were very messy. They did not cover anything. They never cleaned anything and every night when i got home I had to clean up after them. They left garbage in my driveway for days and I had to call him several times to haul it away. I put up plastic on the dining room pass through and doorway to stop the drywall dust. I know this is probably a common complaint with all contractors but to not even sweep the floor? I purchased a very expensive corian counter top with a stainless steel sink and they scratched and gouged both of them. After I saw the damage I purchased heavy brown paper and taped it onto the counter tops so there wouldn't be any more damage and they took it off because, they said, it was covering the tile so they couldn't grout. I specifically taped it at least an inch away from the back splash. I had to contact the counter top dealer and he told me what to do and I was able to get most of the marks off the counter tops but my sink still shows the damage. When I confronted Mike he adamantly denied that it was his workers that did it and said that it was like that when it was delivered. That's not true because I had rubbed my hands over them and taken pictures and a video of the counter tops the day they were put in and no scratches were there. I purchased vinyl strip flooring and after they put it in they pushed my stove and refrigerators in and out on top of the flooring, without any protection underneath them, and there were so many visible scratch marks they had the manufacturer give them another floor so it could be replaced. They didn't remove the first flooring they put the second layer on top of the first which was basically fine but they didn't remove the kick plate on the cabinets and now there is a gap between the flooring and the kick plate. When they put the shelving up in the pantry they pieced the molding around the stiles of the unit. Why would anyone piece the molding? Mike told me it was because I said I wanted the shelving from floor to ceiling. Really!? I had them fix the molding. The blind corner cabinet was supposed to be able to hold a pull out swivel corner shelving unit because i didn't want a lazy susan but they ordered the wrong size cabinet so it wouldn't fit. So I bought a small slide out metal shelf but they installed it sideways in the cabinet and it wouldn't pull out and was useless. I had them install it correctly. There are several more incidences but the final one was when he wanted his final payment and my kitchen was
Response from M.A.J. Construction
"some clients are hard to work for. robins daughter told me directly that she has chased off every contractor that has been there. that was a red flag that she was going to be a non payer.but we were already started on the project. all the sheetrock work and paint we did as a bonus. i have never had a customer that did not want a lazy susan and then SHE provided some rack to try to make it like a lazy susan. as far as the floor is concerned , we did put material under anything we moved. there was a scratch, so i replaced the floor free of charge. i believe the countertop installer did the damage to the floor moving the stove. i would strongly recommend that no local contractors work for her. there where so many things we did as a bonus because i felt bad for her i cant believe she would stoop to slander. this job was also done in the spring, not sure why we would wait till now if she was unhappy. the moulding was repaired in the pantry."

Major Renovation - Multiple Rooms
This was a horrible experience! He broke a light fixture and hid it in the garage, walked out with our copper pipes, made closet door frames too small for the doors, didn't center light fixture in the bathroom, the toilet could not be installed on the sewer pipe, all outlet and light switches were installed too deep on 2x4's for covers to go on, sheet rock was shoddy, cement from floor tile all over the walls, the floor tiles were uneven (did not use spacers, not level), he helped himself to our buckets and ruined, clogged wash sink with grout for floor tiles, walked out on job after 2nd installment payment, and the list goes on. His crew must have been pulled off the street and didn't even know each other. Worst experience ever. Would not trust this man in our house ever again! We had to pay someone else to correct all the mess he left and finish the job. To top it off, HomeAdvisor opened a formal complaint, but nothing was ever resolved regarding the problems we endured with this referral.

Bathroom - Remodel
Mike made himself available to get the project done with very little lead time. Both Mike and PJ were very professional and helpful. They listened to our requests and completed as we described.

Kitchen - Remodel
Very professional, great attention to detail and prompt. I cant say enough good of the MAJ crew and owner Mike. They are very passionate at what they do, and have great project coordination advise with colors, themes and details. The entire crew is very skilled and we found extremely trustworthy and quick with the least amount of impact to daily life while our kitchen and flooring were completely gutted and resurrected. Outstanding communication kept the project always in line and moving forward. We highly recommend considering MAJ for any project , large or small, as we will be keeping in contact with them for our many other projects on our "to do" list. In closing we'd like to add that we spoke with 5 or so contractors before hiring MAJ and found that the painful process for the right contractor was well worth it. Scott & Kelly Stebbins Syracuse, NY

Kitchen - Remodel
Michael Jay the foreman that I hired and owner of the business is a very honest, polite and sweet man and is committed to making sure you get what you agreed on and paid for. Up front and making it his priority to please his customer. We also had him do our two bathrooms as well as our kitchen.
