Major Renovation Multiple Room Service
Carl at MGM did a great job. He was able to work with us even though our plans changed several times. He was very patient with me in coming up with a design that fit our space. He even helped and gave recommendations. Even through this he finished on time and we like him so much that we hired him to do a 2nd job. He finished that one ahead of schedule and even subtracted out the cost for things that we decided to upgrade on. We highly recommend the experience with him. I've worked with another contractor before and it was nothing like this experience.

MGM Custom Homes did an outstanding job on my renovation. They had the experience to understand what I envisioned for the small space in my older home, and they renovated the area exactly how I wanted it. They were professional from the start, including being very responsive by phone and e-mail with updates; always on-time, and they completed the project as anticipated. They have a very skilled carpenter who gave me the trim detail and architectural "look" I was looking to achieve for my new room. I am extremely pleased with my renovation, and would definitely work with MGM again.

Before hiring this contractor, please understand that the owner (Carl) does not deliver what is promised. Main issues are as follows: 1. All work is subcontracted out. MGM does not have any workers beyond management (causes major scheduling and quality control issues)2. When issues arise, MGM takes zero responsibility. The customer does not come first and when issues in quality due to MGM arise, the customer is required to pay more even in a fixed contract. 3. Key items in the contract and discussions in the contract stage are changed and misrepresented including allowances etc. In the end, there is no way I would hire this contractor again.

"First, we built a bathroom/closet addition not a garage. MGM is a general contractor; we use sub-contractors with special skills and licenses. We at no time indicated that we had �employees� to do the work�this is construction industry standard. The contract price was $35,456.04; homeowner actually paid $33,836.64-consderably less. All allowances were deducted from the contract price. Assuming responsibility, we had two roofers on two occasions to study the possibility that the roof leaked�neither could find a problem with the roof that would cause the leak. Consensus of 4 professionals, horrible storm blew rain through ridge vent."

Determined my problem and recommended a solution. Not quite as timely as I would have liked, but generally, kept in decent contact. Slight discrepancy is billed work due to fact that sub-contractor that came over and I decided to perform less invasive remediation of issue. Ended up splitting difference in cost billed.

Carl and his team are excellent craftsmen and worked with my custom design to build a deck that exceeded my expectations for quality, functionality and design. Due to weather issues, the project went on longer than expected, but the end result is the envy of the neighborhood. I highly recommend MGM Custom Homes for your deck or home remodel.

Basement Remodeling

MGMCustomHomes, specifically, Carl McCain, was contracted to replace a second floor support. I entered into a 'cost-plus' contract. The cost-plus contract was my second mistake after hiring Carl. Cost-plus is defined as 'parts and labor' plus 15%. I was charged for items that had flat fees, no parts or labor, and charged for services that were not performed. I was told that there would only be subs where necessary, all work was sub'd out, no work was actually done by MGM. The worst part was Carl, 'president,' MGMCHs took no responsibility for the subs who did all the work. please email avogt99@gmail.com before hiring this contractor.

Deck or Porch
Project was begun immediately upon receipt of county permits. Their crew arrived and began work promptly and made very good progress without any delays. Project was completed as agreed with a few unexpected upgrades and within the agreed upon prices. Very nice job overall.

Basement Remodeling
Our basement was completed in only 3 weeks - half the time that was quoted. Our questions were answered promptly and we are very pleased with how the room turned out. We will definitely use MGM again.

Carl McCain at MGM Custom Homes did a terrific job in repairing our master bathroom shower and floor. We had no delay issues with any of the work being done. Everyone involved was professional, fast, and efficient. In fact, Carl was on vacation when the work was being done, and he prompty replied to all emails and phone calls during that week. We have used him a few times. He did a deck for us and a screened in porch. I have found he's extremely honest and makes sure everything is done right the first time. He has excellent attention to detail. Very meticulous.
